Supersonic cruise missile

My opinion is not necessarily right. First of all, the current Mach 5 cruise missile is unrealistic. At best, the commonly used sub-combustion engine will end at Mach 3.5~4, and the Mach 5 cruise missile must use scramjet engine. Scramjet is only in the experimental state in the United States. Personally, I think it is very unlikely to be put into actual combat within ten years. Russia can't even reach the test now, let alone India, which has never produced any qualified aero-engines. As a friend mentioned earlier, the speed of hypersonic missiles is now achieved by terminal dive, because it is impossible for ramjet engines to reach more than 4 times the speed of sound during cruise at this stage. Since only Russia and India are developing hypersonic cruise missiles at present, I don't think it is possible to see hypersonic cruise missiles form combat effectiveness within 20 years. Secondly, hypersonic cruise missiles must rely on high-altitude trajectory. Under the current technical conditions, it is almost impossible for cruise missiles to fly above Mach 2 at ultra-low altitude for a long time. BrahMos claims to be able to reach Mach 2.8, relying on the high trajectory of10.5 million meters or more. Only when he finally swooped down can he fly briefly on the sea. Cruise missiles with high ballistic flight are easy to find. Easy to find, easy to intercept. What's more, supersonic cruise missiles are huge, at least bigger than ballistic missiles. Third, hypersonic missiles have weak maneuverability. For example, the speed of a cruise missile with Mach 5 is similar to that of a ballistic missile with a range of 400-500 kilometers. Ballistic missiles can throw away projectiles and only maneuver warheads, while cruise missiles must maneuver with huge projectiles and wings. Which is more mobile? Fourth, intercepting hypersonic missiles is easier than intercepting ballistic missiles with the same speed. Very simple, the target is much bigger, the maneuverability is weak, and the flying height is low. Conversely, developing anti-ship ballistic missiles is more tactical than developing hypersonic anti-ship cruise missiles. Fifth, it is a joke that current air defense missiles can shoot down ballistic missiles, but they cannot shoot down cruise missiles that are easier to shoot down. Although the anti-missile technology is still immature, it is far more mature than hypersonic cruise missiles. Take Israel's arrow missiles as an example. Just drop a large area of prefabricated debris in the air and wait for the target to hit. You don't need to hit the target directly. The previous supersonic anti-ship missiles were difficult to intercept. One of the reasons was that the air defense missiles had a short range, and even if they hit the target, the wreckage of the anti-ship missiles could hit the warships. But now the air defense missile has a long range, and the wreckage poses no threat to the warship. In addition, the supersonic anti-ship cruise missile is too large, poorly loaded, limited in guidance mode and poor in anti-interference. These are the shortcomings of supersonic anti-ship cruise missiles, which is also an important reason why the United States does not develop supersonic anti-ship cruise missiles. As far as BrahMos is concerned, I think its combat effectiveness is actually not as good as C803 (fake 805 doesn't need to fight). Imagine that a Su 30MKI can hold a BrahMos (I deeply doubt that the structure of Su 30MKI actually does not allow this, but if it is a China version of Su 30MKK, it is not a big problem), but a J-7 can hold four 83ks. BrahMos's high trajectory made him discovered by Aegis at 100 km away, and then shot down 50 km away. On the other hand, YJ-83K can pass through the outer air defense circle and reach the opponent's inner defense circle. On the one hand, it is because of the concealment of skimming the sea, and at the same time, the interception ability of the current long-range fleet air defense missiles to this ultra-low altitude target is very limited. Only short-range air defense missiles and dense arrays can deal with it.

Because the number of YJ-83K far exceeds that of BrahMos, and it can easily penetrate the air defense system of the long-range fleet. So taking off the same number of planes, the threat of C803 will be much greater than that of BrahMos.
