A brief history of Hengyang county

The history of wild mountain peaks

Yan Hui Peak, the first peak in Nanyue, is located in the urban area. Legend has it that "the wild geese fly north and south, so their wings stop and return", so the urban area is also called the Wild Goose Peak.

In 22 1 year BC, Qin Shihuang unified the whole country and divided the southern part of the former Chu State into two counties, namely, Qianzhong County and Changsha County, which included Hengyang.

In 220 AD, Sun Wu set up Xiangdong County in the southeast of Changsha County, with the county address in Jinling County. Hengyang County is located in the west of Changsha County, and within the territory of Xiangxiang today, it governs Zhengyang (now Hengyang County), Chong 'an (now Hengnan County), southern Hunan, western Hunan (now Hengshan, Hengdong and Nanyue District), Xiangxiang and Yiyang counties. This is the first time in history that a county named after Hengyang appeared.

In 589 AD, the Sui Dynasty destroyed Chen, changed the county to a state, abandoned Xiangdong and Hengyang County, and changed it to Hengyang County. State towns and county towns are on the east bank of this river. This is the first time in history that Hengyang County appeared.

On April 4th, 20001,the State Council approved (Guo Han [20065438+0] No.34): jiangdong district, Chengnan District, Chengbei District and Suburb of Hengyang City were abolished, and Zhuhui District, Yanfeng District, Shigu District and zhengxiang district City of Hengyang City were established. Yanfeng District has jurisdiction over five streets, namely, Yanfeng, Baishazhou, Huangchaling, tianmashan and Xianfeng Road, and Xiangjiang Township (excluding Liu Yang Village), Yueping Township (excluding Union, Yueping and Beitang Villages) and Wenchang Township in Hengnan County.
