In order to attract listeners to listen to advertising broadcasts, dozens of radio stations in Shanghai have successively broadcast one-man shows. With the achievements of modern science and technology, one-man show entered thousands of households through radio waves, which opened the first sound of the development of one-man show to farce. In the early 1940s, comedians such as Jiang Xiaoxiao, Bao Lele, Yang Tianxiao and Zhao Baoshan joined hands with civilized comedians to perform the whole drama "A Bowl of Rice" in Suzhou, which was the first drama from "funny" to farce. Burlesque is good at performing comedies and burlesque, which has the artistic characteristics of making people laugh and pays attention to funny plots and exaggerated performances. The characters in the play are mixed with local dialects, and the singing has absorbed the tunes of Nanxi Opera and Quyi, as well as folk tunes and popular songs. Most of the original scripts are based on folk jokes, social news, or adapted from civilized dramas. Influenced by the semi-colonial and semi-feudal culture in 1930s and 1940s, its performances are sometimes vulgar. After the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), it developed healthily. Plays arranged include Seventy-two Tenants and San Mao Student's Meaning, and modern plays created include All Love, Satisfied or Unsatisfied, Excellent Answer and Sex. Among them, "The Meaning of Sanmao Students" and "Satisfied or Not" have all been made into movies. 1942 in April, the first burlesque troupe "Xiaoxiao Troupe" was established in Shanghai. Subsequently, Shanghai burlesque troupes mushroomed, and burlesque became one of the most popular operas in Shanghai.
