The origin of Quanzhou place names.

There are different opinions about the origin of Jinjiang's name.

One saying is: "When crossing the southwest of the mountain, people who take shelter from clothes often live along the river, hence the name, hence the name County." That is to say, in the Jin Dynasty, in order to avoid the war, the gentry of the Central Plains crossed the Yangtze River in the south, fled into southern Fujian, and settled on both sides of Jinjiang today, that is, this river was named Jinjiang, hence the name of Jinjiang.

The second statement is: During the Jin Dynasty, a large number of Han people from the Central Plains entered Fujian. According to the analysis of Emperor Wu of Jin Dynasty, Jian 'an County was located in eight counties including Jin 'an County and Jin 'an County. The place where Jinjiang flows belongs to the jurisdiction of Jin 'an County, so it is named after the county initials "Jin".

The third argument is that the renaming of Nan 'an River to Jinjiang is related to the southward migration of Jin people, but at that time Jinjiang was only on the river from Yili in the north of Quanzhou to Shuangxikou in Fengzhou, Nan 'an. In the sixth year of Tang Kaiyuan, Jinjiang County was located in the southeast of Nan 'an, and the county was located in Quanzhou. "New Tang Book" contains: "Jinjiang County has Jinjiang in the north." Other river sections have their own names, such as Lanxi in Anxi, Taoxi in Yongchun and Dongxixi in Nan 'an. Later, due to the heavy name of Jiang, Nan 'an River was renamed Jinjiang. Therefore, it is believed that the name of Jinjiang originated in the Jin Dynasty, and the whole river was named after its descendants, so the county name was named after Jiang.
