What is diffusion talent?

Mancai in Japanese means a form of platform comedy, similar to China's counterpart crosstalk. It originated from the ancient Japanese traditional performance form "Long Live" and gradually developed in Kansai. Mancai is usually performed by two people. One person is responsible for the more serious role of finding fault (ツッコミ), and the other person is responsible for the more funny role of playing the fool (ボケ). They tell jokes to each other at a very fast speed.

Most jokes revolve around misunderstandings, puns and homophones between two people.

History and culture

Full color originated from the long live performance of the ancient Japanese National People's Congress on New Year's Day. That is, to celebrate the New Year as a ceremony, with leaders and supporting roles as a group, wearing black veil dresses, congratulating each family in funny and auspicious language, and then beating gongs and drums to perform songs and dances. It is said that this kind of song and dance is an imitation of tap dance in the Tang Dynasty. This kind of performance was called "Long live the Millennium" in Kamakura and Muromachi era, and many folk artists appeared. During the Edo period, many people from Aichi even came to Edo-CHO to perform Long Live.

In the Meiji era, the content of Long Live was not just a New Year greeting, but a combination of traditional three songs, Wancai and Long Live the Imperial Palace, which was renamed Wancai, and was first moved into the theater as a stage art by artist Chen Yuan in 1887. All-rounder was later changed to all-rounder, and the form was more colorful than before. It's not just the art of ventriloquism, dancing and singing. It has been integrated into one, and there have also been dramas (cross talk dramas), multi-mouth (cross talk) and women's versatile performances.
