Weng Wurui (1899- 196 1), a native of Wujiang, the son of Weng Tonghe, was born in Wuzhou, Guangxi.

In this environment, Weng Wurui received a formal literati education from an early age, studied painting and calligraphy under Zhao Shuru, studied poetry under Kuang Zhouyi, and sang Kunqu opera in Beijing Opera, which won the appreciation of Mei Lanfang. I also learned Chinese massage from Ding Fengshan.

He began to practice medicine in Shanghai in his twenties and became a celebrity in Shanghai by bus. In 1930s, he served as the director of accounting department in Jiangnan Shipyard. He is also the comprador of China Commercial Company under Li Zuhan. Good at running script, small letters, flowers and poems. A rich collection. He has a deep friendship with Zhang Daqian, Zhao Mianyun, Jiang Xiaohe and others. He was a famous scholar's son in Shanghai during the Republic of China.

Weng Wurui is the second son of Weng Shouqi, a famous painter in the late Qing Dynasty and a magistrate in Guilin. He has been trained by the court and is familiar with Chinese painting.
