Weihai dialect

Weihai dialect is a kind of Jiaoliao Mandarin and a small piece of Jiaoliao Mandarin. Weihai dialect belongs to Jiaoliao Mandarin-Lian Deng-Wei Yan patch. It is widely used in the urban areas under the jurisdiction of Weihai, but there are differences in different areas.

It should be noted that "Weihai dialect" usually refers to the dialect in the urban area of Weihai (namely Huancui District), and Rongcheng, Wendeng and Rushan dialects, which belong to Weihai area, are slightly different from the urban dialects.

For example, almost all the first tones (flat tone, "ˉ") are pronounced as the fourth tone (falling tone, "ˋ"), such as Weihai (Wè i Hi), Shandong (Shà n dê ng) and China (zhê ng gu ǒ).

In Weihai dialect, the R sound begins with the Y sound, for example, the word "meat" is pronounced "oil" and the word "day" is pronounced "chair".
