What is Li dialect?

Li dialect is the main dialect of Dianbai, which is distributed in Maonan, Maoming and Dianbai. The main use areas are Maoming, Zhanjiang and Yangjiang. Li dialect is very similar to Zhanjiang dialect and Hainan dialect. Maoming area, most areas of Dianbai County (except Shalang, Huangling and that group of towns speak Hakka), Maogang District, Maonan District (Aotou, Meihua, etc. ) Mainly speaking Li language, it is generally believed that Dianbaixia Cave and Lintou are the most standard areas. Of course, residents also speak vernacular now.

Historical origin

Aotou Ancient Town was built during the Hongwu period of Ming Dynasty. According to the records of Qing Qianlong in Wenwu Temple and the stone tablets of Guangxu Renwu period, Aotou belongs to Gaoliang County, including Mafei Village, mainly in Leizhou dialect. Leizhou dialect is popular in Dianbai County. In Dianbai County, besides Leizhou dialect, there are two foreign dialects, Ya dialect and Cantonese.

The complexity of immigrant composition makes Dianbai dialect in a complicated state. Fujian Putian people moved in earlier, and they occupied the fertile plains in the middle and lower reaches of Shalang River and the southern coastal areas, including Jinxiadong, Yang Jiao, Lintou, Poxin, Qi Jing, Liang Xiao, Shayuan, Nanhai, Shuidong, Chencun, Danchang, Longshan and Bohe.

The dialects spoken in this area are mainly descendants of immigrants from Putian, Fujian. At the same time, another part of Fujian fishermen moved to Dianbai coastal fishing for a living. Later, they gradually settled in the eastern coastal areas, and some people gave up fishing and started farming. Their descendants are distributed in Magang, Shuzai, Diancheng, Jueshan, Lingmen and Mata. The dialect they speak is called "Shanghai dialect" by the locals. Shanghai dialect and Li dialect can speak.

Li language is the main dialect of Dianbai. Xia Dong, Lintou, Chencun, Shuidong, Danchang, Longshan, Yang Jiao, Poxin, Qi Jing, Nanhai, Shayuan and Liang Xiao in Maogang District, and Meihua Town in Maonan District have slightly different pronunciations. According to rough statistics, the population speaking Li dialect is nearly 6.5438+0 million. In addition, Hakka and Cantonese are also scattered. In local chronicles and various monographs, the word "electric vernacular" is sometimes different.

The 2000 edition of Dianbai County Records divides the dialects in the county into three categories: generic dialect, elegant dialect and vernacular.
