Who is Zhang Huitao in Anqing? Why do you want to build a memorial hall for him?

Zhang Huitao is not from Anqing, but from Shouxian. Influenced by Dr. Sun Yat-sen in his early years, he returned to his hometown to engage in revolution. In the process of recovering Shouzhou, Wang Qingyun was not allowed to be the commander-in-chief of Huai Shangjun, so he and Yan Zigu, a new Cai native of Henan Province, formed another "Huai Shangjun" and appointed Yan Zigu as the deputy commander (see Ren Zhiming Manuscript, Henan People's Publishing House, 20 13, page 23). When preparing to attack Xincai County, he was captured by Beiyang Army. He let Yanzigu stop Yi Jun alone, but he ran to Yingshang County, occupied the county seat, and looted the weapons, gold and silver jewelry, food and livestock of the people, causing "complaints" (see Yingshang County Records of the Republic of China and Memorabilia); Later, Cheng Enpu, a revolutionary in Yingzhou (now Fuyang) and leader of Yingzhou's recovery (two comrades-in-arms, who had planned the Nanjing Uprising on orders from Sun Yat-sen, but failed because of the arrest of their comrades-in-arms), went to Yingshang to meet him. Xu, a spy sent by Shouxian, told him that Yingzhou was very rich and far stronger than Yingshang, so he led his troops into Yingzhou and stayed. Until 19 1 1, 1 1, it was surrounded by Ni Sichong, the commander of the left wing of the Beiyang Army, and almost completely annihilated. Zhang Huitao escaped from Fuyang with only a few dozen people. He fled to Sanhejian, Gushi County, Henan Province, gathered the remains and returned to Shouxian County. There, he boasted that he led the army to northern Anhui and "recovered" 23 counties in northern Anhui. The southern revolutionary newspapers and periodicals don't know whether it's true or not, and they all published it as he said, so now historical data all think that Zhang Huitao is a revolutionary hero who recovered northern Anhui.

Later, Huai was divided internally, and many senior officers demanded their salaries, even at gunpoint. Wang Qingyun felt that there was no way to stay any longer, so he left the army and ran to Nanjing for help. Deputy commander Li accepted this hot potato. After learning the news, he returned to Shouzhou from Nanjing, drove away Li, and finally became the commander-in-chief of Huai. But in the first Northern Expedition, he attacked Ni Sichong, which was occupied by Fuyang, with Lu Jinghuan, an Anhui army, and lost to Ni Sichong with obvious advantages. Later, the North-South negotiations were successful, and Zhang Huitao's Huai Shang Army became a part of the Anhui Army. Yuan Shikai, the president of the Republic of China, instructed the military division (minister of national defense and commander-in-chief of the national armed forces) to abolish the southern revolutionary army, and Anhui also carried out disarmament under the leadership of Bai, which was called "Anhui disarmament" in history. "Among them, Zhang Huitao's First Brigade of Huai Shang Army was accused of" bad military discipline "and all of them were dismissed" (Yu Ji: "Iron Blood-Anhui Xinhai Revolution", Anhui literary magazine "Qingming", however, although Zhang Huitao lost his soldiers, he ran to Dr. Sun Yat-sen and became a military staff officer. Later, the Kuomintang was reorganized, and he was even reused by Sun Yat-sen, who was appointed to be in charge of party affairs in seven provinces along the Yangtze River. Just when his career was in full swing, he was assassinated by Ni Sichong's son Ni Mingdao and died a few days later.

Zhang Huitao was not the main leader of Shouzhou's recovery, nor was he the commander-in-chief of Huai Shang Army after the recovery, but the deputy commander and chief of staff. But later, after leaving the Huai army, he drove Li away and became the commander-in-chief, boasting that he had always been the commander-in-chief of the Huai army and was a hero who recovered northern Anhui. The outside world didn't observe it and helped him brag, so he spread the lie to the Huaihe River and attributed all the credit of the National Revolutionary Army in Fuyang and other places to him. Ironically, these have become "historical facts". This is also the result of many historians who don't know how to tell the truth from the false, but only copy Chen's words, "like a millet in Taicang, because Chen and Chen love each other" and hide the historical truth. Alas, are there any scholars who really understand history to help us restore the historical truth?

To sum up Zhang Huitao's life, he was a political liar! Anqing people want to erect a monument for him, because he was assassinated by Ni Sichong. Anqing was then the capital of Anhui Province, and now Anqing people want to continue their dream of being a provincial capital, so CPPCC proposes to erect a monument for Zhang Huitao to summon the soul. But he really didn't make any contribution to the national revolution, especially in Fuyang, which only played a role in undermining the achievements of Cheng Enpu's revolution. In Yingshang County, the result of the "revolution" was to drive away local Manchu officials and then blackmail Yingshang County. It's a joke to erect a monument, a tomb, a research institute and a garden to commemorate this liar!
