What do you mean by contradiction?

Self-contradiction, an idiom in China, refers to the contradiction between others and oneself.

"Everything is wrong" says that a person sells both spears and shields. When selling spears, he said that his spear was extremely sharp and could pierce anything; When he sold his shield, he said that his shield was so strong that nothing could penetrate it. Someone asked him, how about stabbing your shield with your spear? He was speechless.

Later, I used "self-contradiction" to describe myself as inconsistent in speaking and doing things. This idiom shows the thinking contradiction of Confucian scholars who "confuse law with literature". There can be no unbreakable shield and invincible spear in the world. The Chu people unilaterally exaggerated the role of spears and shields, resulting in a situation that could not be justified. Contradictory stories warn people to seek truth from facts, be appropriate, and never be philistine, exaggerated or boastful. The businessman boasted and contradicted himself. As a result, he made a joke and broke his word.

This dishonest attitude is not desirable. This idiom also tells people to seek truth from facts when speaking and doing things, and think twice before acting. Speak or do things consistently, so as not to be unable to justify yourself and be asked to be speechless.
