What are the benefits of worshipping bodhisattva?

Bodhisattva worship is a kind of self-consolation for fear, but it doesn't actually do any good. A joke goes like this: A person worships a Bodhisattva, but he just bowed his head devoutly and found that the Bodhisattva is beside him and worships himself as well. Why is this humanistic Bodhisattva? The Bodhisattva said: It's better to ask for help than to ask for yourself. In that case, why do you still worship him?
