What should I do if my family members don’t understand me during practice?

Some time ago, I was chatting with Miss Huahua about how we can practice spiritual practice at home and meditate every day during the epidemic.

Sister Huahua told me that her family did not agree with her practice. Once she lit incense and candles, her husband threw her out. Sister Huahua was very persistent. Like me, she hid in the toilet and insisted on finishing the exercises.

Many fellow practitioners around me have this kind of confusion. Their families have never approved of their taking this path of spiritual practice. Even when many instructors shared their experiences, they would mention that their families did not agree with it at the beginning. , but I was very persistent and finally lived it now.

At that time, I saw a passage and I really felt like I had an epiphany. I wanted to share this topic today.

Yesterday, a young fellow practitioner from my early years came to me and told me that her situation was not satisfactory. She said that living in the city is really difficult. In addition to going to work every day, she also has to face various chores when she gets home. After cooking and washing the dishes at night, it is almost time to go to bed. I was so tired that as soon as I fell on the bed, I had no intention of meditating anymore.

The young lady said that it is best to go to a quiet place and study hard for a year or two, maybe there will be a big change.

I told her that I happened to have a conversation with a teacher about this topic during the epidemic.

At that time, I listened to an online charity class and thought it was very good. However, unfortunately, it took nearly 2 hours a day to practice the entire set of exercises. At that time, I directly told the teacher that it would take so long every day. I really don’t have time to practice cultivation!

I did a lot of things in the fragmented time every day, but actual cultivation requires a complete period of time, and it cannot be interrupted in the middle, otherwise it will affect the flow of Qi and blood in the body. At that time, I directly proposed that I of confusion.

This teacher is very down-to-earth. She said that practical practice is not about meditating and practicing Qigong at all. This is a misunderstanding. Real practical practice is to integrate practice into all aspects of life. Meditation and practice are just methods, not the essence. If you don’t integrate them into your life, they will only be superficial and the gains will not be great.

I didn’t quite understand what it meant at the time. Do you want me to practice while walking, while eating, and while sleeping?

Later I asked a few fellow practitioners who are now living a very prosperous life how they practice. They are also very busy. They have more children at home than me, and they still have to do housework. How to integrate spiritual practice into life.

After asking around, the answers I got were almost exactly the same.

When eating, eat well, and when working, focus on your work. If you really want to meditate and practice, practice with concentration. Don’t think about work when you’re eating, think about your children when you’re working, and think about when you can practice Qigong when you’re spending time with your children.

It is the so-called "Zen in walking, standing, sitting and lying down", which means to use the methods you have learned in your daily life with the same state of mind.

To put it more bluntly, I believe that in all spiritual training courses, instructors will teach us to speak well, keep kind thoughts, and always be grateful. But with these three simple points, not everyone will do it all the time. It can be done.

It is difficult for me to do it all the time, but, if I really speak every word with awareness, keep kind thoughts to the difficulties I encounter, and treat every difficulty with kindness, If you are grateful for everything, it is impossible to live a bad life.

This is to integrate practice into life.

So back to this question, do we really need a special quiet environment to practice? In fact, the best place to practice is at home. I now find that home is really suitable for practice.

Every day when you encounter all kinds of chaos, your husband is yelling at you, and your children are not following your ideas, how do you need to apply the practical skills you have learned and bring them with you? Keep yourself motionless with awareness.

If you don’t encounter so many problems and find a quiet place away from the world, there will be no problems, and you will naturally feel very good. But in most cases, when you return to the world, the problems will return to the original state. The old model is gone.

Therefore, the dojo at home is like seeking Buddhist scriptures in the West. You need to go through these "nine-nine and eighty-one difficulties" to get the final "true scripture". One less difficulty will make you less successful.

Unless you really want to become an immortal, but if you don’t live a good life, what’s the use of becoming an immortal? If you practice cultivation down-to-earth in the dojo of life, you will definitely gain a lot.

In the past, friends have always advised me that since you have started practicing spiritual practice, it is best to find a religious organization. It will be difficult for you to persist without religious belief. But to this day, I am still an urban practitioner without any religious beliefs.

I really don’t judge religion. I have always maintained a peaceful and upright attitude. The main reason is that I find that trying to persuade my friends seems to be a bit biased. It’s the words and comments these friends show. For example, when they see you not being a vegetarian, they will come at you with a lot of judgments. How come these judgments are more severe than those of people who have not practiced spiritual practice.

Also, which teacher are you studying with? They will never look down on the teacher you mentioned. What kind of teacher is this? You have never seen the world, and you still want to learn from them. Look at my teacher. He claims to be the reincarnation of some god or Buddha. He is amazing.

In fact, no matter what reincarnation you are, have you lived a good life in this life?

When I see you make a small mistake, such as killing a mosquito, accidentally stepping on an ant, or saying the wrong sentence, criticism will come to you immediately.

I want to be a human being but not a Buddha. People who don’t practice don’t comment like this. Why are there so many criticisms?

In fact, after so many years of personal experience, I feel that no matter which method you practice, no matter which teacher you follow, no matter which sect you belong to, you are ultimately one with the origin of life.

We are the origin of the universe, originally, and the origin is Tao, Buddha, and Dharma. In this way, everyone is one, no one is nobler than anyone else, and practice is higher than those who do not practice. No, no, everyone is the same.

The most important thing is not to say which organization you want to join. The key is to cultivate a normal mind, a grateful heart, and an unshakable mind.

This brings us back to the original topic "Why don't family members understand spiritual practice?"

It's very simple! If your family members feel that you have affected them and broken their usual living habits, they will definitely be unhappy and will naturally object.

For example, some people can chant sutras, light incense, and light candles. For example, my mother-in-law is allergic to the smell of cigarette smoke. She will definitely not be able to light incense at home because she will be scolded to death. There are also people who are vegetarians themselves and must ask their family members to follow suit, but their families will not be happy and naturally there will be many conflicts.

Of course, there are also some people who really apply various cultivation methods to their lives, improve their wisdom, level up and fight monsters along the way, and invisibly resolve various conflicts. In the end, they achieve perfection in cultivation, have harmonious family relationships, and have a successful career. Good luck and abundant wealth.

Speaking of which, your practice has made your life so nourishing, and it has not affected your family. Your children are well taken care of, and you are in good health, with good academic performance, good health, and good income. A rising tide lifts all boats.

To borrow a sentence from the founder of the University of Melbourne: "Just like you are pregnant in ten months and are about to give birth. When your family sees such a big change in you, they will immediately come to ask you: What are you doing?" What did you do right? ”

At this time, I can openly tell everyone that I am a practitioner, and my practice has really changed me a lot.

At this time, for example, if you want to chant sutras, meditate, or practice Qigong, your family will accept it, because seeing these things is really beneficial.

In fact, spiritual practice is a very interesting learning process, and it is also a process of retrieving the true self at the source of the universe. It is not metaphysical at all. If it feels more and more mysterious, it may be that you have gone astray.

It is to learn to raise awareness in every moment, let this awareness be positive, and keep the remote control of life in your own hands at all times, and do not leave it to you. Ultimately, return to that source.

Of course, these are just some of my personal thoughts, and I can correct them if there are any shortcomings.
