What jokes have you made because of dialects?

Once I made a joke because I spoke my hometown dialect in a foreign country. I remember when I was in college, my mother sent me to school once. Before getting off the bus, my mother and I were still communicating in our hometown dialect. When I got off the bus and arrived at the dormitory, I suddenly found that I forgot my key. My roommate hasn't come yet. I had no choice but to go down to my aunt. My aunt kept talking about her hometown inadvertently, and then she looked at me blankly. It happened that I didn't realize that I was speaking a dialect, and I said it again eagerly.

My dialect is actually not standard, and I have made jokes about it. When I was a child, I could speak Mandarin. I only spoke dialect with my grandparents in my hometown. Maybe they didn't correct me deliberately, so my dialect is generally mixed with Mandarin. According to my grandfather, my dialect is my own. So when I communicate with my parents in dialect, they often get confused. Once my mother and I said in dialect that the food was too salty. My mother mumbled for a while and then gave me a chopstick dish, saying that I didn't eat enough before frying. Later, I learned that she had heard that there were too few dishes.

Dialect hinders my communication with foreigners, and also with my hometown people. In fact, sometimes I can't understand dialects that are too authentic. I remember once on my way from school, a neighbor grabbed me and talked to me seriously for a long time. I wanted to interrupt her, but I felt impolite. I listened for a while like listening to a gobbledygook, and half guessed that she was saying that my mouse was smashed. After coming home, I told my mother about it. My mother told me with a speechless face that my father had a fall, but it was not a big problem.

In a word, dialect is really a bit difficult for me, and there are many jokes, but speaking dialect with my family still feels very warm.
