How about IELTS taking TOEFL in a week?
Get the TOEFL in two weeks, with a timetable.
Let me say one thing first: all the so-called "problem solving skills" can only help you improve by no more than 5 points on the original basis. Only the improvement of real strength is the key to your score. If an exam can only be won by skill, it's not how superb the skill is, but that the designer of the exam has failed too much.
One more nonsense: if you really believe that it can be done "easily" in two weeks, then don't look down. The so-called "crash" is to concentrate on work for a long time in a short time. It can really be "fast", but it is by no means "easy and fast".
In addition, because of "high efficiency", I pointed out many time-consuming and laborious thankless places, so everyone can take fewer detours.
Because the registration in June, 5438+February, 2008 was too hasty, and I had to prepare for the final exam some time after registration, so I only spent two weeks reviewing TOEFL (February1-February 15) after returning home in the winter vacation.
My English is average, but I belong to the kind of person who can run very fast when his ass is on fire.
Before I took the TOEFL in June 5438+February, my CET-6 score was only 453, so my TOEFL score of 96 was not very high, but it was already very high for me who only had two weeks to review. So please don't laugh at me.
I believe this score is due to the method I spent a day thinking of to review TOEFL. These methods are not just exam-taking skills. If you follow these methods in two weeks, your English level will have a qualitative leap!
Let me introduce my review experience.
Six books: Official Guide to the New TOEFL (OG), Blue Delta, High Score New TOEFL Reading 120 (paper version), Zhai Shaocheng's oral English winning classic (actually, it's ok from the online classroom lectures), Wang TOEFL's selected vocabulary, full score composition, 17.
A mock exam software
I suggest that you don't blindly download some materials. If you read all these books carefully, that's absolutely enough.
Here are some specific review methods.
1, vocabulary: Don't underestimate vocabulary! Never underestimate your vocabulary!
Please refer to Yang Peng's "Getting GRE Words in 0/7 Days" and recite "TOEFL Vocabulary Selection" at the rate of 3 words per day. In the morning, I got three new word lists. In the evening, I reviewed the previous words according to the timetable in Yang Peng's book. Don't be lazy! Although the process of memorizing words is very hard, I hope everyone can use their perseverance to conquer vocabulary, because vocabulary is the foundation of everything.
Students with large vocabulary can choose the TOEFL vocabulary 10000 written by Dai Yun. Personally, I think this is better than Wang, but students with short time and small vocabulary should not use it. Don't try to eat a fat man in one bite, you will choke to death. Please don't try to challenge it, or you will lose confidence in three days.
Lazy recommendation: TOEFL reading the truth 1200 (below the attachment, help yourself) is suitable for children who are really lazy to do it. But ... no pains, no gains.
It is not recommended to classify words by category, because some classifications are far-fetched and cannot achieve the effect of classified storage by human brain. Many students also feel useless, and when they look up the dictionary, they find many mistakes.
2, reading: 2 hours a day in the afternoon, do DELTA first, do the reading part carefully, and master the answering skills of each question type, which can be completed in 5 days. But after reading the simulation questions behind DELTA, the key point is to find the wrong questions, mark them well, see which ones are not skilled enough, and think more. Finally, spend three days in the afternoon doing a simulated reading test, and be sure to choose reading with extra tests. This practice will make you not panic even if you encounter an extra test in the real exam. I made a mistake, only 22 points, mainly because I didn't adapt to the interface of the online exam. I kept looking at it with my eyes, and the speed was too slow, so I couldn't do every article well. It is recommended that you use mock exam software to do reading before the exam to avoid this situation.
Supplement to intensive reading;
DELTa has been recommended before, and now I would like to add that reading 120 is a good material. Students with a good foundation can change to 120 instead of DELTA.
Steps to execute 120:
(Don't do the questions for the time being)
Read through and underline the new words.
2. Memorize new words (as long as you vaguely know the meaning, you don't need to remember)
3. Translation (be sure to write it down)
See what's wrong with the translation, carefully consider the whole sentence and write it down.
5. Mistranslated sentences every day.
6. You can arrange your own time. Recommend two articles every day until you can read 120, and then do the questions.
At this time, if you do something wrong, it is not a problem of English, but a problem of your own thinking, but generally there will be no big problem.
Why are you doing this?
There is a simple reason. Many students read extensively and do problems repeatedly, but they find it useless. Just like you take the TOEFL one hundred times, if your strength doesn't improve, your score will still be a little worse. After the model test, the score is improved, which is called "practice effect" in psychology. The practice effect is limited and can't be improved much.
Therefore, we should grasp the root of the problem and improve our reading ability first.
3. Listen: If you don't understand, don't keep listening. If you don't understand a word, even if you listen to it a hundred times, you still don't understand it, so don't waste your time unnecessarily! I suggest you spend two days reciting words in the morning, sort out the original listening paragraphs after DELTA according to the topic, then mark the new words inside and sort them out. Then start listening.
(I have recommended this classification before, and it turns out that it has no essential function. In fact, there is nothing wrong with listening without classification ... so I omitted this part. )
Never listen and copy! Many students suffer from it, wasting their time not talking, and the effect is not great, and the input and output are not proportional at all.
In addition, XDF said that grasping key words and guessing questions according to the timetable sounded very useful when everyone was in class, but it was useless at all. There is a simple reason. If you don't understand 50% (indeed, most students don't understand 50%), you can't even respond to keywords. Even if I react, I still can't understand the rest. But if you can understand 70%, you can understand the meaning of the conversation even if you don't use keywords, so there is no need for so-called "skills" at all.
Don't be cheated.
Listen as follows:
1. Don't read the original text when you listen for the first time (the answer is written on another piece of paper, not on the topic).
2. Find out the words you don't know in the original text (as long as you know the Chinese meaning, don't study the spelling and usage of those words)
3. Look at the original text and listen.
4. Listen without reading the original text. If you don't understand, stop reading the original text and repeat it until you understand it.
Generally, you should listen to the words after reciting them in the morning. Don't listen to them when you sleep at night, so as not to feel sleepy during the exam. In addition, you must learn to take notes, because the exam questions are invisible at the beginning and will appear after listening. The method of taking notes can be seen in the method of taking notes in a perfect composition. In addition, the reverse reasoning method is recommended, that is, look at the topic first, then listen, and write whatever you hear, so that you will know what to write after practicing for a while.
The schedule varies from person to person, so I suggest you arrange how much you listen to every day. Similarly, set aside three days to do listening exercises and choose those with extra tests. I got 26 points in this test, which is quite satisfactory.
4. Oral English: Many students mistakenly think that oral English is a test of pronunciation, and spending a lot of time on how to speak a standard American accent is not worth the candle. The TOEFL speaking test only tests your language skills and thinking, as long as your pronunciation is clear and you don't have a strong China accent. Of course, good pronunciation is dominant, but good pronunciation can't be practiced overnight. According to the principle of economics, the opportunity cost of practicing pronunciation is too high.
The template of spoken English is very important! I spend 2 hours preparing templates after reading them every afternoon, especially task 1 and task2. I shouldn't lose points All the questions can be adjusted to their own templates according to Zhai Shaocheng's method and memorized. (The exercise topic is recommended to use the machine warp downloaded by Wang's machine warp network)
One task every two days, so the progress is not fast. Be sure to seize the time! I am used to saying everything in a given time, and every reason should be very organized. Do not leave blank time, because blank time will be deducted! When all the tasks are ready, there are still two days to take the oral mock exam. I got 23 points in the oral English test, and got a fair score in task 1, because I didn't prepare the topic of "describing a celebration", and I lost my mind when I panicked. I got good grades in campus life, and completed all the contents in a given time, and I talked about every point. The university lecture won the Expo, which was a mistake, because it didn't grasp the time and didn't end completely.
5. writing:
I prepare for writing in two stages.
The first week: I read the perfect composition in one night, mainly in the third and fourth chapters, and then practice the structure in the next two nights. The night before, I spent two hours practicing for five seconds to find ideas (that is, five seconds to determine the theme), and the next day, I spent two hours practicing for 30 seconds to write an outline (three arguments and arguments supporting arguments) on draft paper, but it depends on my own language foundation. Then I began to practice the five-stage method. One day I practiced how to open the beginning and determined this opening mode. I also practiced how to close the template all day. I practiced the transition in the middle paragraph one day and recited several good transition sentences. Finally, you will find your most suitable template, and then use this template to write several ABCD four topics in the next few nights. Don't limit the time at the beginning, and then change it after you finish writing. You can send it to the writing part on the jar for your approval, make some sentence pattern transformation or fusion according to the sentence patterns in the perfect composition, and write down those sentences.
It is very suitable for students who are confused about TOEFL composition from the beginning.
Students in Niu Yi suggest reading the sentence 1000 in time. You can copy down useful and beautiful sentence patterns and recite them better than those so-called "flash sentences", because there are too many people who recite "flash sentences" in the composition books on the market now, and they are no longer qualified to get high marks.
The second week: start writing in a limited time, and use a desktop instead of a notebook, otherwise you will not get used to it. Tell you a secret: type your template first, because you have practiced it many times and you are familiar with it. You don't need brains at all. You think about the structure while typing, and then fill in the content, so that time will not be tight. Finally, you will leave 3 minutes to check the article. Be sure to check, according to the most prone to mistakes in practice.
There is nothing to say about the comprehensive composition. Using the comprehensive composition guidance of reading full-score composition in spare time, this paper studies the high-score model essay given on OG. I'm sure you will know how to write. Mainly prepare the template, and be sure to compare the listening content with the reading content. Every paragraph should be like this. Write the listening content first, and then write how the listening content refutes or echoes the reading content. As long as you write four paragraphs in a comprehensive composition, you don't have to write an ending.
I got 25 points for my composition, both of which were good. Personally, I think the main reason for losing points is that my sentence pattern is too simple, and I have hardly done any sentence pattern integration. Even so, I got a high score, which shows that the structure and thinking are very important, so I must make it clear why.
Ok, the method is introduced, I hope I can help you.
Finally, write a motto I posted on my desk and share it with you. It has accompanied me through these short and substantial two weeks, and I feel confident every time I see it.
We are never afraid that we can't do it,
What we are afraid of is not not not doing it, because we are afraid that we can't do it.
