Attached "On Ancestors"
Everyone has his own talent and personality. Sometimes it seems that this character is inherited from our ancestors, but it is very, very difficult to find out where these characters come from.
For example, one day I saw a shepherd boy counting pebbles in a low voice and counting the total number of pebbles as a pastime, so he grew up to be a very famous professor, and finally, he might become a mathematician. In addition, there is a child who is not much older than other children. Other children only pay attention to interesting things, but he doesn't play with other children, but fantasizes about the sound of a musical instrument all day, so he hears mysterious ensemble when he is alone. It can be seen that this child is very talented in music. The third child, small and thin, is also very small. Maybe he accidentally rubbed it on his face when eating bread jam, but he actually has his own hobbies-he likes to use clay sculptures to make small models and be sculpted into various shapes by him. If the child is lucky, he will become a famous sculptor one day.
I know it's very annoying to talk about other people's private affairs behind their backs, but I think maybe you can allow me to talk about it and take this opportunity to introduce myself and my research.
When I was very young, I had a feeling of being close to nature. If you think that I have inherited the characters of plants and insects from my ancestors, it is a big mistake, because my ancestors were uneducated hillbillies and knew nothing about other things. The only thing they know and care about is their own cattle and sheep. Among my grandparents, only one person turned over the book, and even his spelling of letters surprised me. As for what special training I have received, it is even less. I have never been taught by a teacher since I was a child, let alone a tutor. I often have no books to read. However, I just keep walking towards a goal in front of me, which is to add a few pages of my views on insects in the history of insects one day.
Looking back, many years ago, when I was a naive child, I just learned to read letters. However, I am very proud of my courage and determination to study for the first time.
I clearly remember the first time I went to find the bird's nest and collect wild mushrooms. I was so happy at that time that I still can't forget it today.
I remember one day, I climbed a mountain near my home. On the top of this mountain, there is a forest that has aroused my great interest for a long time. From my small window, I can see these trees standing in the sky, swaying in the wind and bending over in the snow. I have long wanted to have a chance to visit these forests. The climbing time is long and the legs are short, so the climbing speed is very slow, and the grass slope is steep, just like the roof.
Suddenly, at my feet, I found a very lovely bird. I guess the bird must have flown down from the big stone where it was hiding. I found the bird's nest in a short time. This bird's nest is made of hay and feathers, and there are six eggs arranged in it. These eggs are beautiful pure blue. They are very bright. This is the first time I have found the bird's nest, and it is also the first time that birds have brought me a lot of happiness. I fell on the grass with joy and observed it very carefully.
At that time, the mother bird was very anxious to fly around the stone and said, "Tucker! Tucker! " Whispered, showing a very uneasy look. I was too young to even understand why it was so painful. I came up with a plan in my mind at that time. I brought a blue egg back as a souvenir. Then, come back in two weeks and take these birds away before they can fly. Fortunately, I happened to meet a priest when I put Bluebird's eggs on the moss and walked home carefully.
He said, "Oh! An egg from Xing Zi! Where did you find this egg? "
I told him about the experience of picking up eggs back and forth, and said, "I'm going to go back and pick up the rest of the eggs, but only when the newborn bird has just grown feathers."
"Hey, don't do this!" Cried the priest; "You can't be so cruel to rob the poor mother bird's child. Now you must be a good boy and promise me that you will never touch that bird's nest again. "
I learned two things from this conversation. First, stealing eggs is cruel. Second, birds, animals and humans have their own names.
So I asked myself, "What are the names of many of my friends in the Woods and on the grassland?" What does Sachikola mean? "
A few years later, I learned that Saksikora means residents in rocks. The bird that lays blue eggs is a kind of bird called stone bird.
There is a small river flowing quietly beside our village. On the other side of the river, there is a forest covered with smooth and tall trees, like tall pillars, and the ground is covered with moss.
I collected wild mushrooms in this forest for the first time. The shape of this wild fungus looks like a hen laying eggs on moss at first glance. There are many other kinds of wild mushrooms with different shapes and colors. Some are shaped like small bells, some like light bulbs, some like teacups, and some are broken. They will shed tears like milk, and some will turn blue when I step on them. Among them, one is the strangest and looks like a pear. They have a round hole at the top, probably a chimney. When I poke my finger under it, a bunch of smoke will come out of the chimney. I fill a big bag with them and let them smoke when I am in a good mood until they shrink into tinder.
After that, I went back to this interesting forest several times. I'm in the Ravens, taking a preliminary course in mycology. Everything I get from this collection can't be obtained by staying in the house.
In this combination of observing nature and doing experiments at the same time, I have learned almost all the courses except two. I have only learned two kinds of science courses from others, but in my life, there are only two kinds: one is anatomy and the other is chemistry.
The first is that I benefited from the successful natural scientist Morgan Si Tong, who taught me how to see the internal structure of snails in a basin full of water. The course is short, but you can learn a lot.
When I first learned chemistry, I was unlucky. In an experiment, a glass bottle exploded and most students were injured. A person is almost blind, the teacher's clothes are burned to pieces, and there are many spots on the classroom wall. Later, when I returned to this classroom, I was not a student but a teacher, but the spots on the wall were still there. This time, I have learned at least one thing, that is, every time I do experiments in the future, I always shut the students out.
I have one biggest wish, that is, to set up a laboratory in the wild. At that time, I was still living in a state of worrying about bread every day, which was really not easy to do! I've had this dream for almost forty years. I want to own a small piece of land, enclose it and make it my private land. Loneliness, desolation, exposure to the sun, and Cao Jing are all environmental conditions that wasps and bees like. Here, without interruption, I can ask and answer questions with my friends, such as bee hunters, in difficult languages, including many observations and experiments.
Here, there is no long travel and hiking, wasting time and energy, so that I can pay attention to my insects at any time!
I finally realized my wish. I got a small piece of land in a quiet place in a small village. This is a piece of hemp, named for a place where Brovin company can't farm and there are many stones. Few plants can grow there except some thyme. You can grow something if you work hard, but it's really not worth it. But in spring, some sheep will pass by, and if it rains at that time, some grass can grow.
However, my own proprietary marijuana, but some red soil mixed with stones, and has been roughly cultivated. Someone told me that vines grow on this land, which really bothers me, because the original plants have been pulled out with a two-legged fork, and now there is no thyme. Thyme may be useful to me because it can be used as a hunting ground for wasps and bees, so I must replant them.
There are creeping grasses, Erythrina flowers and Spanish plants with orange flowers and hard claws everywhere. On top of these, there is a layer of Illyrian cotton thistle. Its upright branches sometimes grow to six feet high and have big pink balls with small thorns at the end. It is really well armed, which makes plant gatherers don't know where to pick it. Among them, there is a spike cornflower with a long row of hooks, and the buds of raspberries climb to the ground. If you don't wear high heels and come to the thorn forest, you will be punished for your carelessness.
This is the paradise I have worked hard for forty years!
In my strange and barren kingdom, it is a happy hunting ground for countless bees and wasps. I have never seen so many insects in one place. All kinds of businesses are concentrated in this land, and hunters, masons, textile workers, leaf cutters and cardboard makers who hunt all kinds of game have come. At the same time, gypsum workers are mixing mud, carpenters are drilling wood, miners are digging underground tunnels, and cattle colon membrane workers (used to separate gold foil) have all kinds of people.
Look! There is a kind of bee that can sew. It peeled off the net silk of Erythrina with yellow background, collected a mass of stuffed things, and proudly carried them away with its cheeks (that is, jaws). It will go underground and store honey and eggs with the collected materials. There are a group of leaf-cutting bees wearing black, white or blood-red cutting brushes under their bodies. They plan to go to the nearby Woods and cut the leaves into circles to wrap their harvest. This is another group of plasterer bees in black silk sweaters. They work in cement and sand. It is easy to find tools for them to work on stones in my bathhouse. In addition, there is a wild bee, which hides its nest in a ladder with an empty snail shell. The other is to put its larvae in the pith of dried raspberry stems. Third, take dry reed ditch as home. As for the fourth kind, I live in the empty tunnel of Mei Sen Bee, and I don't even have to pay the rent. Some bees have horns, and some bees have brushes on their hind legs, which are used for harvesting.
The wall of my Hamam was built, and piles of stones and fine sand were everywhere, which were abandoned by construction workers and soon occupied by various households. The plasterer bees chose the crack in the stone as their sleeping place. If there is a fierce lizard, it will attack people and dogs if it is accidentally run over. They chose a cave and lay there waiting for dung beetles passing by. The thrush with black ear hair, dressed in white and black, looks like a monk in black, sitting on the top of a stone and singing a simple song. Where can I find those nests with sky-blue eggs in the stone pile? When moving the stone, the little black monk living in the stone naturally moved with him. I feel sorry for these little monks in black, because they are lovely little neighbors. As for the lizard, I don't think it is cute, so I don't regret its departure.
In the sand, there are communities of bees digging and hunting. To my regret, these poor bee diggers and hunters were ruthlessly driven away by the construction workers. But some hunters remained. They are busy looking for caterpillars all day. There is also a bumblebee that dares to catch poisonous spiders. There are many such spiders in the soil of Hama, and they are quite interested. As you can see, there are strong and brave ants, who radiate the power of a barracks and set out in a long line to hunt their powerful prisoners on the battlefield.
In addition, there are all kinds of birds in the Woods near the house. Some of them are singing birds, some are green warblers, some are sparrows and owls. There is a small pond in this forest, which is full of frogs. When May comes, they will form a deaf band. Among the residents, the bravest is the wasp, which occupied my house without permission. There are white-waisted bees in front of my house. Every time I walk into the house, I must be very careful, or I will step on them and ruin their mining work. In the closed window, plasterer bees nest on the soft sand wall. I accidentally left a small hole in the wooden frame of the window, and they used it as a portal. On the edge of the shutter, a few lost bees from Mei Sen built a hive. As soon as lunch time comes, these wasps come to visit. Their purpose is of course to see if my grapes are ripe.
These insects are all my friends, my dear little animals, friends I used to know and now know. They all live here. They hunt, build nests and feed their families every day. Moreover, if I plan to move, the mountain is very close to me. There are wild strawberry trees, rock roses and heather plants everywhere, and wasps and bees like to gather there. I have many reasons to escape from the city for the sake of the countryside and come to the southwest to do some weeding and irrigation of lettuce.
