Why are tricky questions answered skillfully?
In our daily life, we sometimes meet some people asking some tricky questions. If we want to embarrass you, we should learn some humorous skills to deal with this situation.
Generally speaking, there are rules to follow in dealing with questions that are difficult to answer or can't be answered at all, and there are several methods that are easy to master and very effective:
First, steal the bait and switch, and answer irrelevant questions. That is, keep the original appearance on the surface and transform the content in essence. Lincoln is ugly, and he knows it very well. Once, a member of parliament publicly accused him of being a two-faced man. Lincoln replied, "If I had another face, do you think I would wear it to meet people?" Lincoln deliberately replaced the "political face" referred to by the other party with his own "face" to make the troublemaker impeccable.
The bait-and-switch method can shift the focus of the other party's question to something you are familiar with and sure of, so as not to leave the other party room for another cross-examination. And what you are familiar with and sure of can be answered in a watertight way, so that the other party can't find a flaw.
Second, use metaphors to explain why it is inconvenient to speak directly. Fan Zhen in the Qi and Liang Dynasties in the Southern Dynasties was an eloquent leader. He lived in the encirclement where Buddhism prevailed, and because of his open opposition to superstition, he offended many dignitaries.
On one occasion, Xiao Ziliang, King of Jingling, invited many famous monks to challenge Fan Zhen.
After Fan Zhen's speech, Xiao Ziliang took the lead in attacking with the question he had already prepared: "Mr. Fan said that there is no karma, so how do you explain the difference between the rich and the poor in the world?"
Xiao Ziliang was very proud after asking. He was convinced that under the threat of many powerful people, Fan Zhen could not and dared not deny his fate. As long as we open this theoretical gap, we can further attack Fan Zhen's Theory of Deity Extinction.
I don't know that Fan Zhen didn't change his face. He didn't give a tit-for-tat positive answer to his questions, but made a leisurely metaphor: "People are like flowers blooming on this tree above our heads. A gust of wind blows, some fall on the carpet, and some fall into the mud pit. The prince is like a flower falling on the carpet, and I am like a flower falling into the mud pit." Fan Zhen compared the difference of human destiny with the falling flower, which shows that people are all the same, and the status difference is caused by social injustice. Humorous words contain extreme contempt for powerful people, which can be said to be a kind of counterattack with external internal derogatory, soft and hard, and its humor is right, which makes Xiao Ziliang impeccable. Henry clay, a former US Secretary of State, was a moderate leader of slavery. He was ridiculed as a "great compromise" on the issue of slavery.
On one occasion, when his point of view changed slightly in his speech, several slave owners tried to drown out his voice by hissing. Henry clay didn't mind this at all, and shouted to the audience, "Gentlemen, do you hear these voices? This is the sound of the showers of truth falling on the flames of hell! " Henry clay's figurative humor method contains rich contents. He compared abolitionism to "the showers of truth" and slavery to "the flames of hell", with a clear stand, clear love and hate without losing humor.
third, attack his shield with his spear. The main point is that there is a contradiction in the other person's question from a certain angle. As long as you grasp this contradiction, you can attack the attacker very effectively from this point. Still take Fan Zhen as an example. On one occasion, in order to preach the divine power of Buddhism, Xiao Ziliang launched another attack on Fan Zhen, instructing a lobbyist named Wang Yan to make trouble when he made a speech in Fan Zhen. Wang Yan plausibly said, "If you don't recognize the gods of your ancestors, such descendants will be a great rebellion."
Fan Zhen asked slowly, "Since Mr. Wang thinks there are gods after the death of his ancestors, why didn't he kill himself to serve?" Faced with this kind of provocation, it would be impolite for Fan Zhen to refute it in reason and directly fight back. After a little thinking, he used fallacy to cross-examine. It was Fan Zhen who grasped the contradiction in the other party's words, and thus retorted humorously, leaving Wang Yan speechless and putting himself in a favorable position.
fourth, jumping out of common sense is specious. As the saying goes: "If you are right, you can't joke." This method is in line with this rule, and its main point is to jump out of the box of common sense and find an unexpected explanation for difficult questions, thus forming a sense of humor. At the end of Coolidge's presidency, he made a famous statement: "I'm not going to do this business again."
reporters felt that there was something in their words, so they pestered him and asked him to explain why he didn't want to be president again. There is really no way, Coolidge had to tell reporters: "Because the president has no chance of promotion." The reason why I don't want to be president is obviously not as simple as the lack of promotion opportunities. According to common sense, if you don't want to be president, you are under great pressure, or for other reasons, you can't be humanitarian for outsiders. If you try to explain the real reason, it will inevitably lead to unnecessary trouble. President Coolidge's specious humor not only got rid of the entanglement of journalists, but also reflected superb wisdom.
fifth, simplify complex problems. This is the most wonderful way to answer many complicated questions, that is, to return the complicated questions to the most original and known answers. At a banquet, American writer Hemingway's speech attracted many people's admiration. A notorious rich man wanted to befriend him and ran to Hemingway. Asked: "Which writing style is the best?"
When Hemingway saw that the questioner was this person, he spread his hands and said, "From left to right!" It is conceivable that in the face of an annoying person, if you don't answer his questions, you will feel superior and arrogant. In order not to leave the bad impression of "playing big cards" on the other side, Hemingway skillfully simplified the complex and answered simply and accurately, making the listener impeccable. The clever perfunctory will definitely make the annoying guy speechless.
sixth, intentional imitation. This method is similar to the third method mentioned above-"attack his shield with the spear of the other side", but it is also different. The latter is to directly counter each other in the other's language, while "intentional imitation" is to backchat each other in a language similar to or the same as each other in form. A priest challenged an American black leader: "Mr. Wang is interested in black liberation, and there are many black people in Africa. Why not go to Africa?" The astute black leader immediately retorted: "Since your Excellency is interested in soul liberation, there are many souls in hell, why not go to hell?" According to the pastor's way of thinking, "There are many black people in Africa, so we should go to Africa", the black leader asked, "There are many souls in hell, so why not go to hell?" He kicked the ball to the other side, making the other side speechless, and the other side's absurd views were shattered.
