On November 17, 2023, Jin Dong’s new drama was officially announced and he will collaborate again with Liu Mintao, the “eldest sister” of “The Pretender”. The TV series "Welcome to Maile Village" co-produced by China and Africa will premiere on November 21 at the Happy Theater of Jiangsu Satellite TV. The play is directed by Zheng Xiaolong as the artistic director, Liang Zhenhua as the chief screenwriter and chief producer, directed by Jin Ye, and starring Jin Dong, Zu Feng, Zhang Yuqi and Liu Guanlin. Special starring Liu Mintao and Ding Yongdai.

Taking the work and life of the Chinese medical team in Africa as the main line, it tells the story of our country's medical workers saving lives and healing the wounded and establishing deep friendship with the local people. It profoundly interprets the spirit of the Chinese medical team that is “unafraid of hardship, willing to contribute, save lives and heal the wounded, and have boundless love.” During the script creation process, the creative team of "Welcome to Maile Village" interviewed more than 100 members of foreign aid medical teams across the country and reviewed millions of words of books and materials.

Foreign Aid Story

In order to truly present the local customs and medical conditions in Africa, the creative team formed a research team to go to Africa to collect information. We held discussions with medical team members from China and visited the hospitals where they were stationed, and collected a large number of vivid foreign aid stories. As one of the rare large-scale overseas cooperative filming projects in the history of Chinese TV dramas, "Welcome to Maile Village" was filmed in six locations across China and Tanzania, and more than 190 foreign actors were invited to join the crew for filming.

Among them, Maile Village, the core scene in the play, was constructed in a waterside open space in Wanning, Hainan. "Mile" is the Chinese transliteration of the Swahili word Milele, which means "forever" and represents the beautiful vision of everlasting friendship between China and Africa. Jin Dong plays Ma Jia, the "first knife" in the heart of the medical team. In the process of foreign aid, he not only gained precious friendships, but also achieved personal transformation and growth through constant hard work.
