Do we still remember the collective memory of Guilin's landscape in the second half of the 20th century, or is it highly generalized? The answer is "three mountains, two caves and one river". Compared with the elegant taste of the ancients, this induction may be too straightforward, but it represents the meaning of Guilin's landscape and has dominated Guilin's tourism for a long time. Elephant trunk mountain in the "Three Mountains" is located on the west bank of Lijiang River in the south of Guilin, where taohuajiang and Lijiang River meet. It is the symbol of Guilin. The city symbol of Guilin is Elephant Trunk Mountain, or Xiangshan for short. Xiangshan is 220 meters above sea level, 55 meters above the water. It consists of pure limestone deposited on the seabed 360 million years ago. The mountains are steep and the rocks are ancient. There is a hidden moon cave between the trunk and the legs, floating on the water like a bright moon, forming the famous "Xiangshan Hidden Moon". This scene, which integrates clear mountains, beautiful waters, strange caves, strange stones and reflections, has become an eternal theme sung by poets in past dynasties and is a must-see for tourists to travel to Guangxi.

Fubo Mountain, one of the "three mountains", is located in the northeast of downtown Guilin. It has a prominent solitary peak with an altitude of 2 13 meters, half of which is located on land and half of which is inserted into Lijiang River. This mountain is 63 meters above the ground. It stands abruptly, just like an axe knife, especially by the river, giving people the feeling of standing on the wall. Lijiang River flows here, blocked by high mountains, forming a huge confluence. The ancients took its meaning of "stopping waves at the foot" and called it Fu Bo. According to folklore, Fubo Mountain was named after Ma Yuan, a general of the Han Dynasty, who shot arrows here to retreat from the enemy and tried his sword.

Diecai Mountain, one of the "Three Mountains", is located in the northern part of Guilin. It consists of limestone and dolomite limestone deposited 367 million years ago. The stone is hard, and the rock layer is thin, medium and thick, and it is layered like a pile of silks and satins. Hui Yuan, a writer in the Tang Dynasty, named it Diecai, because "according to the Picture Classic, mountains are arranged with stones and green, and if they are colored, they are colored."
