What should be marked on the seed label?

Seed labels refer to specific patterns and text descriptions fixed on the surface, inside and outside of seed packaging. According to the relevant provisions of People's Republic of China (PRC) Seed Law, seeds sold in People's Republic of China (PRC) should be labeled. The main contents of the label are as follows:

(1) crop species: the species of plant taxonomy should be defined;

(2) Variety name: It shall comply with the provisions of the Regulations on the Protection of New Plant Varieties in People's Republic of China (PRC). If it belongs to an authorized variety or an authorized variety, the authorized name shall be used;

(3) Origin: refers to the location of seed breeding, marked to the county level according to administrative regions;

(4) Quality index: refers to the quality index promised by the manufacturer, marked according to the purity, purity, germination rate and moisture index of the variety;

(5) Quarantine certificate number: indicate the quarantine certificate number of the place of origin. Imported seeds refer to the serial number of the Quarantine Approval Form for Imported Seeds and Seedlings;

(6) Seed batch number: refers to the seed batch number when the seed manufacturer checks the seed quality;

(7) Date of production: refers to the time when seeds are harvested;

(8) Net content: refers to the actual weight or quantity of seeds, expressed in kilograms (kg), grams (g), grains or plants;

(9) Producer: refers to the original commodity seed supplier, and importer refers to the unit that directly buys seeds from abroad;

(10) address of production enterprise: marked according to the address indicated in the seed business license;

If the seed label belongs to one of the following circumstances when labeling the above contents, it shall also be labeled separately:

(1) The seed production license number and variety approval number should be increased for the main crop seeds;

(2) Seeds treated with chemicals should be marked with the name and precautions of the chemicals, and according to the toxicity of the chemicals, a warning sign of skeleton or cross bone should be attached, and the standard red word "toxic" should be used;

(3) If it is a hybrid or transgenic seed, it shall be indicated;

(four) the sale of imported seeds shall be accompanied by a Chinese label and the name of the importer.

The contents of the label can be printed directly on the surface of the package, or printed matter can be fixed outside the package or placed in the package, but the contents such as crop type, variety name, manufacturer, quality index, net content, warning sign and "genetically modified" logo must be outside the package.
