Where is Pangquangou?

Pangquangou, located about 80 kilometers northwest of Jiaocheng County, is a national first-class wild pheasant forest nature reserve, with more than 2,000 national first-class wild pheasants.

Here, the mountains are high and dense, the valleys are criss-crossing, and there are landscapes such as "Filial Piety Monument", "Yunding Sunrise", "Heroes Sunset", "Tianmen Ruiqi", "Brilliant Pen Holder", "Wen Yuan Dinner", "Longquan Waterfall" and "Ancient Tree Pagoda". There are 10 peaks with an altitude of more than 2000 meters in this area. Xiaowan Mountain, the main peak of Luliang Mountain, and the ancient monument of Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty stand on the northern edge of the reserve.

Pangquangou National Nature Reserve is the main producing area of rare pheasants in the world. Brown-eared pheasant is a national first-class protected animal and an endemic bird in China. It was listed as an endangered species by IUCN Red Book, and was widely distributed in North China in history. Pangquangou National Nature Reserve in Shanxi Province is of great significance to the protection of rare brown eared pheasants.
