Dabei Temple in the ancient temple was named after the Great Mercy Guanyin Bodhisattva. It is the largest and oldest Buddhist ten-square jungle temple in Tianjin. The temple was founded in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, flourished in the eighth year of Kangxi, and occupied an area of 56 mu at its peak. Later, due to the vicissitudes of past dynasties, many of them were promoted and abolished, and only the West Courtyard existed on a smaller scale. By the year of 194 1, Master Xu was resurrected and built buildings such as the Heavenly King Hall, the Ursa Major Hall, the Great Compassion Hall and the East-West Annex Hall in the East Courtyard, covering an area of 8,000 square meters together with the garden. In A.D. 1979, the municipal government allocated funds to repair the temples damaged in the "Cultural Revolution" and rebuilt the entire Buddha Hall. 1982 was listed as a municipal cultural relics protection unit, and 1983 was approved as a key temple in the Han area of China by the State Council. This temple is also famous for offering sacrifices to the top bones of Master Xuanzang, a monk of the Tang Dynasty. Prices range from 1945 to 1956.

Since the reform and opening up, with the further implementation of the policy of freedom of religious belief, Dabei Temple has also opened a new chapter in history. During Buddhist festivals, the temples are filled with cigarettes and crowds, and receive1100 million pilgrims and tourists every year.

At present, Dabei Temple has a total area of 42,000 square meters (about 63 mu). When the whole expansion plan is completed according to the scale of Chuanhan Temple, Dabei Temple will stand on the banks of Haihe River in a more magnificent manner to welcome ten believers and tourists at home and abroad.
