In 2008, the planting area of Yudou was 6,000 mu, and the growth was gratifying, mainly concentrated in Yuan Mei, Shencun and Xiashen villages. However, the planting area of cauliflower is gradually decreasing, with only 5,600 mu in 2007. Relevant persons from the Agricultural Office of Duhu Town pointed out that as an important vegetable production base in Taishan City, Duhu Town attaches great importance to winter planting every year. The winter planting area in 2004 was mu, and the per capita income was 1.00- 1.05 million yuan. The enthusiasm of vegetable farmers is very high. In the winter of 2005, the planting area increased by 5000 mu, and in 2008, Yudou enjoyed a bumper harvest. It is estimated that the yield per mu will increase by 250kg compared with last year, and the yield per mu will reach10.5kg in 2008. Li Zhuohui of Huaan Village, Yuan Mei Village Committee planted 5 mu of jade beans and 8 mu of wax gourd in 2006. According to the 2 yuan per kilogram of wax gourd and jade beans, Li Zhuohui earned nearly 30 thousand yuan last year. The vegetable planting area of Yuan Mei Village Committee last year was 654.38 million mu, and the per capita income was between 2,000 and 30,000 yuan. The vegetable farmers who have tasted the sweetness are very enthusiastic and attach importance to the implementation of winter planting. There is a special vegetable farmer in Yuan Mei village. He is Jiang Shuxin, a Three Gorges immigrant. Seeing that growing vegetables can increase income without affecting rice planting, he planted nearly 1 mu of jade beans. He explained that he would increase the planting area of vegetables next year to increase his income.

The Dilemma of Broccoli

Compared with the bumper harvest in Yudou, another well-known vegetable cauliflower in Duhu Town has encountered an embarrassing situation in recent two years, and its planting area has gradually decreased. In 2007, the planting area was only 500 mu. In 2004, the planting area of Duhu Town at that time was 1 10,000 mu, and the purchase price of cauliflower was 4 yuan per kilogram. Broccoli is sold to Zhongshan, Zhuhai and other cities, and many vegetable farmers are beaming. However, these cities have improved their market access conditions, and the pesticide residues in broccoli in Duhu Town exceeded the standard and were blocked from the gate. The price of broccoli was eventually sold to 0.3 yuan and even 0.2 yuan per kilogram, and some vegetable farmers simply let it go. Last year, the planting area of cauliflower was reduced to 500 mu, and the price rose to 3. +6 yuan per kilogram. Broccoli is usually listed at the end of the year or the beginning of the following year. The earlier they go on the market, the higher the price. Broccoli on the market early has a warmer climate, more pests and diseases, and takes a long time to use, which is easy to cause pesticide residues. Relevant persons from the Agricultural Office of Duhu Town said that it is necessary to think about how to guide farmers to plant, provide good services for vegetable farmers before, during and after delivery, and reshape the brand of cauliflower production base. How to technically guide farmers to plant cauliflower and rationally adjust the vegetable structure is also an unavoidable problem.
