In the last episode, it was said that water created the desert landscape in western Inner Mongolia. In this episode, I will go north along the Yellow River from Alxa League to Bayannaoer. Although the distance between the two places is only over 3 kilometers, the landscape presented here is very different from the desert.

1. The granary of central and western Inner Mongolia-Hetao Plain

You may not be familiar with Bayannaoer, but you must have heard of it when it comes to Hetao Plain. Yes, it is "the granary of central and western Inner Mongolia" in junior high school geography textbooks, and Bayannaoer is the location of Hetao Plain.

As for the formation of Hetao Plain, it is said that the Yellow River water was diverted northward and gathered here because of the blocking of Helan Mountain, plus the suitable climatic conditions, etc. Students who are interested in this suggest to study it by themselves. The old driver has almost returned all the geographical knowledge he has learned to the teacher. (I wonder when the tuition fee can be refunded? In a word, it has become the largest agricultural area in Inner Mongolia after a rough operation by nature.

2. On the Pearl-Wuliangsuhai

After bidding farewell to Bayannaoer, I will drive 14 kilometers along the Beijing-Tibet Expressway in the direction of Beijing. This forester really surprised me a lot when driving on the expressway.

Although it has been protected by people, Wuliangsuhai still suffers from sandstorms, and its area has been decreasing. As the last gift left by the Yellow River to Inner Mongolia, this "pearl on the plug" obviously needs more careful care.

After enjoying the scenery of Hetao Plain, it's time for me to start again. The next journey is even more distant, but it's also wonderful.
