On June 10, the police reconnaissance company of the Third Red Regiment of our People's Army had just completed the task of laying communication optical cables between the 40 kilometers of no-man's land between Tucheng and Sir'er Tibetan townships. While resting, they saw a half-finished project. It turns out that there is a big river separating Dashan Village and Wuli Village, so the bridge has not been built for many years. As a result, people have been crossing the river with a few logs, which is very dangerous. Before the "5.12 earthquake", the villagers had already finished building one of the large piers of the cable bridge, but before the construction of the other one started, due to the earthquake, the newly built bridge piers developed large cracks and could not be used normally. The other one is even more incapable of being built.

When the troops learned about this situation, they took the initiative to coordinate with the local village committee and township government, and immediately dispatched the entire company of officers and soldiers, carrying tools, to the cable bridge between Dashan Village and Wuli Village. Engineering site.

Due to limited tools and the fact that concrete materials such as stone, sand and cement were not yet available, the officers and soldiers of the Police Reconnaissance Company adopted earth-moving methods such as carrying people on their shoulders based on the existing conditions. There were no stones, so the comrades went to the mountain stream two to three hundred meters away to pick them up, making two trips. Two trucks of sand and one truck of cement have been transported to the other side. There is no other good way, so we have to carry them manually! So the soldiers borrowed the unique local backpacks from the fellow villagers. If the backpacks were not enough, they used their shoulders to carry them. The company cadres regarded the construction site as a vivid educational lesson of "learning from the people, loving the people, and serving the people."
