Both the Soviet flag and the Chinese Communist Party flag are a hammer and sickle?

The flag of the Soviet Union and the flag of the Communist Party of China are both hammer and sickle.

Because the new Soviet national constitution stipulates that the upper left corner of every federal Soviet Union and state flag should display a hammer and a sickle, which respectively represented the two major classes of workers and peasants that made up the Soviet proletariat at that time. The party emblem on the flag of the Communist Party of China is roughly the same as that used by the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, except that the pattern is slightly more symmetrical and the sickle handle is shorter and rounder.

The hammer and sickle (Russian: серп и молот) is a symbol used to represent communist or socialist organizations. In the second half of the twentieth century, the red star and red flag became symbols of socialism. The two tools represent two types of proletarian workers respectively: the hammer is used for beating, symbolizing workers; the sickle is used for harvesting, symbolizing farmers. The two tools are combined into one, representing the unity and cooperation of workers and peasants.
