The Encephalopathy Center of Jiangsu Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine is the largest integrated Chinese and Western medicine treatment center for encephalopathy in the province. It is the key specialty of Jiangsu Provincial Bureau of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the neurology specialty of National Drug Clinical Research Base, and the postgraduate training center of neurology of Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine. It has many well-known experts and senior experts in and out of the province, such as Professor Fu Weimin (an expert who enjoys special allowance from the State Council), Professor Jiang Yajun (a postdoctoral fellow) and Professor Gu Xizhen (a doctor of medicine), and newly opened outpatient clinics for special diseases such as memory disorder, sleep disorder and headache, with an annual outpatient volume of more than 654.38 million.

The center consists of brain function examination room, neurology research room, hyperbaric oxygen treatment center and other auxiliary departments. Treatment focuses on cerebrovascular diseases (cerebral infarction, cerebral hemorrhage, cerebral arteriosclerosis, etc. ), neurodegenerative diseases (dementia, paralysis agitans, motor neuron disease, etc. ) and insomnia. These diseases cover all nervous system diseases and neuropsychiatric diseases. Routine intravenous thrombolysis, cerebral angiography and arterial stent implantation successfully completed the first intracranial stent implantation in Jiangsu Province in August 2003.

In addition, the center has undertaken many projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 863, 1 15, the Provincial Central Administration and the Provincial Social Science and Technology Committee, and won three science and technology awards above the municipal level.
