Why do pilots require so much vision?
China's civil aviation pilots require that "naked eye vision should not be less than 4.0", and the standard of air force recruitment is that the naked eye vision of both eyes should be above 0.8, and laser surgery is not allowed. So why is the vision requirement for pilots so high? In my opinion, there are three reasons:
The first is the requirements of flight altitude and speed. Pilots fly in the sky (domestic flights usually fly at an altitude of 6800-8000 meters). Although it is not as complicated as land traffic, there are also uncertain risk factors such as clouds and storms. Only when the pilot has a high visual ability can he find the danger in time and avoid this risk.
In addition, the plane must keep a specific route in the process of high-speed driving to ensure safety. If the vision is not up to standard and deviates from the route, it will cause great risks.
The second is the complexity of the flight interface. Friends who have experience in driving (cars) know that we need to be highly vigilant when driving, especially as a pilot.
Pilots should not only observe the radar and dashboard at all times, but also pay attention to the changes of weather and routes. Only a high eyesight can meet the requirement of "seeing six roads with one eye". If your eyesight is not good, some misjudgments may occur during driving due to gas shock.
Finally, there are requirements for rapid response to risks. If you encounter danger at high altitude, it will not be as convenient as asking for help on land, and it will basically be solved by pilots. This requires not only the quick response of aviation personnel, but also rich experience and visual ability to see the problem accurately. Imagine if you can't even see the problem clearly, how can you judge the solution?
Different models have different vision requirements. If you want to be a rescue helicopter or even a high-speed fighter pilot, you will have higher requirements for vision. In fact, this is understandable. After all, both the value of the fighter itself and the energy and money needed to train a pilot are relatively high.
In daily life, we must pay attention to protecting our eyesight, especially young people who are eager to become pilots. Don't watch TV for a long time at close range, and don't indulge in playing mobile phones on the Internet all day. After studying and working for a period of time, try to look down for a period of time to relieve visual stress and protect your eyes.
