lt; Positive gt; The reward given by the ancient Greeks to the winners of athletic competitions was a hat made of laurel leaves, called a "laurel wreath." The winners of the first Olympic Games in 1896 received such a "laurel crown". It was not until 1907 that the International Olympic Committee officially made a decision to award gold, silver and bronze medals to the Olympic winners at the Executive Committee meeting held in The Hague, Netherlands, and it was implemented at the 4th London Olympics the following year. Since the 8th Paris Olympics in 1924, the International Olympic Committee has made further supplementary decisions: in addition to awarding medals to the winners,
