Expansion: The Shaanxi History Museum is located on the northwest side of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda in Xi'an and is one of Xi'an's business card attractions. The museum was planned to be built in 1983, and construction started in the summer of 1986. It was officially opened to the public on June 20, 1997

and was named Shaanxi History Museum. In 2016, the Shaanxi History Museum was selected as one of the "China's 20th Century Architectural Heritage" by the Chinese Cultural Relics Society and the Architectural Society of China.

The museum is the first national key museum built by the central government and was selected as one of the "China's 20th Century Architectural Heritage". The collection of cultural relics ranks among the best in Chinese museums, ranging from simple stone tools used in the early stages of ancient mankind to various artifacts in social life before 1840.
