What is the name of Nanjing?

Nanjing, referred to as "Ning", was called Jinling and Jiankang in ancient times. It is the capital of Jiangsu, a sub-provincial city, a megacity and the core city of Nanjing metropolitan area. It is also an important central city in eastern China, an important scientific research and education base and a comprehensive transportation hub in China, approved by the State Council.

Nanjing is located in the east of China, the lower reaches of the Yangtze River and coastal waters. It is the seat of China East Theater Command, an important gateway city for the development of the central and western regions driven by the Yangtze River Delta radiation planned by the State Council, and an important node city for the strategic intersection of the eastern coastal economic belt and the Yangtze River economic belt.
