Zhongwei, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, China. Zhongwei, referred to as Wei, is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. It is located at the head of the central and western Ningxia and the front of the Yellow River, at the transition zone from Ningxia Plain to Loess Plateau, and at the junction of Ningxia, Inner Mongolia and Gansu provinces. Zhongwei is located in the geometric center of China land, guarding the "West Gate" of Ningxia. It is the throat of the Eurasian Continental Bridge, an important node city on the northern road of the ancient Silk Road and an important transportation hub in the west. Zhongwei is the strategic channel for the country's West-East gas transmission, and is known as "the pulse of China".
