History:

Early Years (96-98):

The band was founded in 1996. The founders include: guitarist JUSTIN MAURIELLO (former member of Once There ) and GREG BERGDORF (former member of 409), bassist BEN OSMUNDSON (former member of 3-Ply) and drummer ED UDHUS (former member of 409). The four's former band shared a practice space, and they found themselves experimenting with merging their different musical styles, and they became friends. After they determined to further develop their music careers, they each left their previous bands and formed ZEBRAHEAD.

The band was deeply influenced by FUGAZI and THE DESCENDENTS, and they found that they were not interested in the local popular SKA-PUNK style. They also incorporated some elements of HIP HOP into their own music, and finally the band added a new member, percussionist ALI TABATABAEE.

Breakthrough (1998-03):

In the self-named LP ZEBRAHEAD (also known as THE YELLOW DUE TO THE COVER) as "Doctor Dream Audio Company" After the release of "Waste of Mind" in 1998, the band signed with Columbia Video to perform their first concert, titled "Waste of Mind", later that year. The band's next albums were "Playmate of the Year", released in mid-2000, and the 2001 LP "Stupid American Fat", which was released exclusively for their Japan concerts.

Then, the band and the American band GREEN DAY went to Europe to promote the record and perform at various festivals. Throughout the year, they also shared the stage with other bands such as: LESS THAN JAKE, KOTTONMOUTH KINGS, 311, MXPX, REEL BIG FISH, UNWRITTEN LAW and GOLDFINGER.

Three years after releasing their first standard record, in 2003, the band launched MFZB (ie: Fuck ZEBRAHEAD bastards). In the following year, they spent most of their time promoting the record overseas, especially in Japan, where the record quickly reached gold sales. The band found themselves performing at various venues in Japan including summer sonic festivals, Punkspring, and large-scale festivals. It was during this period that the band began to focus more on punk music rather than hip-hop rock.

JUSTIN MAURIELLO leaves (2004):

Shortly after the 2004 Japan tour, lead singer and guitarist MAURIELLO left the band due to other interests. In December 2004, news of his departure was announced to fans via the band's official website. Fans were saddened by his departure because his collaboration with TABATABAEE in singing and instrumental percussion was full of dynamic energy and was very important to the band's music. In the same month, MATTY LEWIS (former member of JANK 1000) received a call from ZEBRAHEAD band manager TODD SINGERMAN (who was also the manager of JANK 1000) and learned that the ZEBRAHEAD band was looking for a new co-lead singer. Lewis traveled to California to audition for the role, and after feeling his impressive performance, the remaining four members of the band officially recognized him as the band's new co-vocalist, and on March 12, 2005, It was officially launched at the "Secret" performance held by ANAHEIM HOUSE OF BLUES.

Yes, the news department has been too idle recently. A new cover album will be released soon. There will be many cover songs in it. The name of the album will be "Grab the Shorts". Let’s play this crazy game and guess why the album has such a name? Maybe you'll even think that some of the songs are on this album just because of the album's title! ! ! The next news on the blog will be about what’s next! ! ! It will come sooner than you think! ! Let the carnival begin! "
