Three major environmental problems in China

Environmental problems exist not only in industry and cities, but also in rural areas, mainly in the following three aspects:

First, garbage pollution. The output of rural garbage in China is 800,000 tons/day. In the past, garbage was mainly organic matter and could be used as agricultural fertilizer. Nowadays, the production and lifestyle in rural areas have changed, resulting in a large number of harmful wastes, such as pesticide bottles, fertilizer bags, plastic films, food packaging, coal ash, etc., which are littered everywhere, resulting in garbage everywhere.

Second, water pollution. There are four main reasons for water pollution in rural areas: First, China raises about 300 million pigs every year, producing 200 million cubic meters of sewage every year, and the pollutant discharge ranks first in all industries. Except for a small amount of feces, most of the feces are discharged directly. Second, chemical fertilizer fish farming and cage fish farming are very common, which seriously pollutes water bodies. Third, the abuse of chemical fertilizers and pesticides has caused water pollution. At present, the use of pesticides and fertilizers in China is more than five times higher than that in developed countries. Fourth, the pollution caused by township enterprises, many polluting enterprises moved to rural areas, which aggravated the deterioration of rural water environment pollution. In the past, surface water in rural areas could be directly used for drinking, washing vegetables, washing clothes and swimming, but now there is very little water that can be directly used. Water pollution brings greater risks to rural drinking water safety.

Third, food safety. China agriculture has entered the era of high yield and low quality. In order to achieve high yield and rapid growth, farmers use three modern agricultural means of production: chemical fertilizer, pesticide and feed. In terms of pure conversion, the country uses about 40 million tons of chemical fertilizers and 450,000 tons of pesticides every year. Chicken, fish and meat have bad smell, and harmful substances such as heavy metals, hormones, antibiotics and food additives enter the food chain and food.

Rural environmental protection has become one of the central contents of the current new rural construction.
