Different scholars have certain differences in the classification of birds. The total number of birds alone can vary by hundreds of species, orders and families. The divisions are also different. Recently, someone used DNA-DNA hybridization to analyze more than 1,000 species of birds and reclassified them.

In the new classification, the climbing birds that were considered to be higher in the past were reduced to lower groups and divided into many orders, while the waterfowl that were originally considered to be more primitive have become more advanced. Higher taxa, and migratory birds, wading birds and raptors are often merged into the order Storks and Craniformes.
