A person of high quality will be good without being taught; a person of middle quality will be good after being taught; a person of low quality will be taught bad things.

What is good without teaching? What is non-sage? To teach and then be good, what else can you do if you are not a virtuous person? Teaching is also not good, why is it not stupidity? This means that those who are good are called good; those who are not good are called bad. It is auspicious to have eyes that do not look at inappropriate colors, ears that do not listen to inappropriate sounds, mouths that do not speak inappropriate words, and people that do not practice unreasonable behavior. Do not make friends with people who are not kind, do not take things that are not righteous, and be close to those who are close to you, such as Zhilan. Avoid evil as you fear snakes and scorpions.

A virtuous wife and husband will bring few disasters, and a son will be filial to his father and have a generous heart. Why should a virtuous wife worry about the family not being rich? Why should a filial son need his father to move forward?

When studying, one aspires to be a sage; when serving as an official, one aspires to the kingdom. There is no shame in being strong, and no honor in being arrogant.

Honor and disgrace cannot be changed, and the person is only a virtuous person. Madam is not a sage, and who can have no faults? There is no greater good than taking advantage of others' strengths and making up for one's own shortcomings.

If you know good and evil, you can then appoint the virtuous; if you know the current situation, you can know how to advance or retreat. When someone is a minister, it is a merit to promote talents; when a person is a master, it is a merit to use talents.

Talents are not regarded as virtuous by everyone, but must be observed by those who are knowledgeable. However, those who make good use of people must know them well.

The problem is not that there are no talented people in the world, but that there are people who don’t know the talented people. Those who make good use of people do not need to be familiar with each other, but only use their talents.

Nor should small flaws cover up one's excellence, and one's talents should not be lost due to small faults. Therefore, when employing people, you must first know their talents, know their talents, and then do their best.

If you know something good but don't use it, or you use it but can't do it to the best of your ability, what's the difference between a wise person and a mediocre person? It is easy to be a loyal minister, but difficult to be a virtuous minister.

A loyal minister will sacrifice his life to fulfill his name; a wise minister will complete his service and serve his whole life. It is easy to teach others the way of sages, but it is difficult to cure oneself by the way of sages.

It is easy to speak the way of the sages, but difficult to practice it. Use the way of sages to overcome difficulties in the beginning, and use the way of sages to overcome difficulties in the end.

Those who have no desires are called saints, those who have few desires are called virtuous; those who have many desires are called ordinary, and those who indulge in desires are called mad. If a person is close to a virtuous person, it is like a piece of paper; the orchid and musk deer are wrapped in paper, and they are fragrant because of their fragrance.

You cannot enter the realm of sages without studying. Stay quiet to cultivate your character, be frugal to cultivate your virtue, be diligent in your practice, and make friends with virtuous people in your outgoing life.

Those who study are not humble, those who guard the land are not hungry, those who accumulate virtue are not defeated, and those who choose friends are not defeated. The sage is compassionate when he is sad, and the sage is sad when the world is sick.

Virtue is the treasure of the country, Confucianism is the treasure of the table. Seek talents from above, and accomplish your goals with ease.

Seek glory and be satisfied when things are accomplished. If you don't know how to be vigilant, it will be difficult to tolerate you from top to bottom.

A wise man does not follow his name, because benevolence is precious. If a wise person does not love his position, his name will be abandoned.

A brave man does not fight for the edge, but is brave enough to hold back. A virtuous man with a lot of wealth will harm his ambitions, a foolish man with a lot of wealth will benefit his faults.
