The former site of Xugongqiao Rural Improvement Experimental Zone is located in the east of Xugongqiao Village, huaqiao town, Kunshan, Suzhou (now in Xugongqiao Primary School). Xugongqiao experimental area for rural improvement is the first experimental area for rural improvement in China. The existing main building in the former site of the experimental area is Danian Hall. The building, facing south, is a two-story brick-wood structure, with clear water red brick walls and red machine-made brick roofs, with a width of 28.30m, a depth of11.50m and a eaves height of 6.48m. The main hall is a hollow hall with two floors, with a single wing on the north and a corridor connecting Wuyi Hall on the west. It has been turned into a historical exhibition hall of "Xugongqiao Rural Improvement Experimental Zone".

From 65438 to 0928, Huang Yanpei, a famous educator, founded Xugongqiao Rural Improvement Experimental Zone, a vocational education society, in Huaqiao, Kunshan, Jiangsu Province, and established Xugongqiao Rural Improvement Association. 1June, 929, the Wuyi Hall of the Central Auditorium of Xugongqiao Rural Improvement Association was completed. In addition to the auditorium, there are libraries, music rooms, seed rooms, credit cooperatives, medicine rooms and offices. Xugongqiao Rural Improvement Experimental Zone takes the policy of "integration of wealth and education", takes "rural autonomy, popularization of education, abundant production and perfect entertainment" as its purpose, and is committed to rural reconstruction centered on community work such as compulsory education.

The work in the experimental area ended on June 1934, and the facilities such as Wuyi hall were handed over to the local authorities. 1943, Cai Yanan and others used the former site of Xugongqiao Rural Improvement Association to establish a private Zhenchuan junior high school, 1947, and changed it to a public Zhenchuan middle school branch. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Xugongqiao Branch of Zhenchuan Middle School was transferred to Kunshan County and changed to Xugongqiao Primary School and Xugongqiao Junior High School.
