Second, the ship painting process requirements

Construction shall be carried out in strict accordance with the paint brand, coating number and dry film thickness list of each part of the hull. Painting must be carried out after the painted surface is cleaned up to the requirements, inspected by professionals and approved by the owner's representative. The type of painting tools should be suitable for the selected paint. When using other paints, the whole set of tools should be thoroughly cleaned. When applying the last coat of paint, the surface of the previous coat should be kept clean and dry, and the drying time is usually not less than the shortest coating interval specified by the manufacturer. In order to reduce the workload of secondary surface cleaning, all welding, cutting, free edges (free edges require chamfering) and burning parts of initiating explosive devices (excluding watertight test welding) should be cleaned immediately after welding and cutting, and the corresponding shop primer should be applied. For parts with high requirements for surface aesthetics, defects such as sagging and accumulation of coating should be avoided.

Before opening the can, first check whether the variety, brand, color and storage period of the paint meet the use requirements and whether the thinner matches. Once the can is opened, use it immediately.

After the paint is opened, it should be fully stirred evenly. The curing agent should be added to the epoxy paint, and the construction can be carried out only after the stirring time is paid attention to.

During construction, if it is necessary to dilute the paint, appropriate thinner should be added according to the instructions of the paint manufacturer, and the addition amount should generally not exceed 5% of the paint amount.
