What if there is fog?

What if there is fog?

First, the causes of fog in headlights

On the one hand, from the perspective of headlight structure, whether it is halogen lamp or LED lamp group, the back cover has a ventilation hose. Headlights will generate a lot of heat when they are used, and the vent pipe plays the role of internal and external exchange to maintain the normal use temperature of headlights. However, the moisture in the air will also enter the interior of the headlight through the snorkel and attach to the lampshade.

On the other hand, with the passage of time, the headlight sealing strip will lose its activity, making the sealing performance worse. After washing the car or after the rain, humid air will enter the lampshade, thus forming fog.

Second, the headlight fogging treatment

Under normal circumstances, the fog in the lampshade is condensed by water vapor after the temperature drops. When the headlight is in normal use, it will naturally dry soon after the temperature rises through the circulation of the ventilation pipe. But be careful not to bake the headlights yourself, because the lampshade is plastic and baking is likely to damage the lampshade.

If there is still a lot of water after turning on the headlights for ten minutes or half an hour, then it is necessary to disassemble the lampshade, dry it, check whether the headlights are damaged or leaking, and carry out maintenance and replacement.

The fog in the lampshade will affect the normal light transmittance, and also make the light beam of the lamp deviate, leading to astigmatism, which makes the light unable to focus, and the penetration becomes extremely weak, affecting the driving sight. Therefore, it is very necessary to check the lights regularly in winter, rainy season or after vehicles wading in water to eliminate hidden dangers.
