Is underglaze tableware safe?

Underglaze tableware is safer.

Under-glaze color refers to painting and decorating the green or baked body with pigment, and then glazing it. The glaze is on the top layer and then baked in a high temperature kiln. Glaze and painted patterns are fired at one time, and pigments fully penetrate into the glaze. The fired pattern is covered with a transparent glaze film, which is crystal clear and translucent.

Smooth feel, with the advantages of never changing color, never fading, safety and hygiene, so underglaze tableware is also the first choice for most people. The earliest prototype can be traced back to the Song Dynasty and continues to this day.

How to distinguish glaze color from glaze color;

Overglaze color was created on the basis of underglaze color in Ming Dynasty. The decal paper made of pigment is pasted on the glaze or directly painted on the surface of the product with pigment, and then baked at high temperature. Because the baking temperature can't reach the melting degree of the glaze layer, the decal surface can't sink into the glaze. Touching the glazed porcelain with your hand, you feel that the flower surface has obvious concave and convex feeling; But also easy to wear and be corroded by acid and alkali.

The firing temperature of colored porcelain in glaze can melt the glaze and the pigment can sink into the glaze. After cooling, it will be covered by glaze. The surface of the product is smooth, and there is no obvious concave-convex feeling when touched by hand, which may turn black after long-term use.

If the ceramic products contain other components, they may overflow at the high temperature of 600℃ ~ 800℃. Therefore, when people use the microwave oven, it is best to put it in a white tire bowl or an underglaze colored bowl. In contrast, the underglaze and white porcelain on the market at present do not contain lead and are relatively safe.
