Under the scorching sun, they searched for signs, advertisements, promotional words, etc. with irregular words along the cement road of Sanshan Fushigang Village.

China is a world-famous ancient civilization and a land of etiquette with a history of more than 5,000 years, especially Chinese characters. Chinese writing has a long history. It is the crystallization of the diligence and wisdom of the working people in ancient my country and is the essence of Chinese national culture. However, modern people have modified the traditional way of writing Chinese characters. Those modern characters have caused many typos in today's society.

In modern society, many people abbreviate many words for temporary convenience; or if they cannot write, they replace the original word with another word with the same sound. It is possible that the meaning of the original sentence has changed. During our investigation, we found a large number of irregularities in the writing of Chinese characters.

1. Extensive use of traditional Chinese characters

In this search for irregular words, traditional Chinese characters were the most commonly found category. There are 12 irregularities in the use of traditional Chinese characters along a kilometer of road. For example, the flavor snacks on the store sign at No. 105 Xin Street Middle Road have "风" written in traditional Chinese characters. The land promotion text at the head of Fushigang Village has "identified" and "emphasis" written in traditional Chinese characters. At the rural construction site, the permanent porcelain plate couplets inlaid on the walls next to the gates of the two buildings include "Wan", "Xing", "Feng", "Chuang", "Enterprise", "Guang", "Qi", etc. Written in traditional Chinese, there are many irregularities in writing Chinese characters.

2. Some handwritten signs and slogans use typos, simplified characters or even different characters

Since most advertising signs are now made by computers, computers cannot make typos at all. , simplified characters, so in more than 100 billboards along the street, no typos or typos were found, and only five instances of traditional Chinese characters were found. However, there are still many typos and simplified characters in some handwritten advertisements and slogans. For example, the words "band" and "wreath" in "band" and "wreath" are written with typos, and the words "parking and accommodation" and "dining" in "restaurant" are written in simplified characters. Such a change makes people feel very uncomfortable and twisted. If these typos and simplified characters continue, what will the text look like in the future?

3. Randomly deform text

From the survey, it can be seen that the phenomenon of irregular wording in public places is still serious, and this is precisely a place with dense crowds, which will bring inconvenience to people. Therefore, we feel that the government should pay attention and use administrative orders to regulate the use of words in public places.

Through an afternoon of investigation activities, the students gained a lot:

1. Students’ enthusiasm for participating in activities increased and they felt the importance of practical activities.

2. After investigation and research, students’ ideological awareness of standard word usage has been strengthened, and they have realized the harm and inconvenience of using non-standard words. They are determined to start from me, use standard words correctly, and do a good job in publicity and education. Work, and do my own little part to standardize the use of words in society.

There used to be nothing in front of my house, but now there are barber shops, canteens, supermarkets and other new stores. I feel really sad. I'm so happy! But after taking a closer look, I found that many store signs used typos, homophones and traditional Chinese characters. Store owners, why do you do this? The school happened to have launched an activity to promote Mandarin. The publicity? Everyone should speak Mandarin. Everyone must write standard characters, so the teacher organized us to investigate typos, homophones and traditional Chinese characters on store signs.

Investigation

We first entered Hongxiang Road. As soon as we crossed the road, we saw a store with four big characters "Mai Shoes" and "Mai Clothes" hanging on it. Li Zigang from our class went to ask the shopkeeper since Gao Fengyang. The shopkeeper replied: "My shop sells both shoes and clothes. First of all, the word "Mai" means a prosperous business. Secondly, "Mai" and "Mai" have the same pronunciation. , in order to attract customers, I used the word "Mai". ?

When we walked to the junction of Hongxiang Road and Changsheng Road, we found that the characters "华" and "书" in Xinhua Bookstore were both traditional Chinese characters. This time, everyone had the courage and rushed to ask the staff why, but they didn't know the reason for using traditional Chinese characters. Alas, they could only fail.

In addition, we also see signs like "Bu San Bu Si" and "Decoration Full Decoration Mei". Although they are very creative, they destroy Chinese culture after all.

Analysis

Usually these stores just write whatever they sell, such as "E's Baby". You can tell at a glance that they sell daily necessities for babies, "Bu three cloth four" then Needless to say, the homophonic words used on signboards are used to attract customers.

I think the traditional Chinese characters used on the Xinhua Bookstore sign are based on a calligraphy work. The work uses traditional Chinese characters, so it is not easy to change it to simplified characters on the sign.

Conclusion

After analysis and the explanation given by the shop owner, I came to the following conclusions:

1. The homophonic words on the signboard are to attract customers. Let the customers feel novel. As long as the customers enter the store, the business will be half successful.

2. Part of the characters in the signboard are in traditional Chinese, mainly because the signboard is based on the calligraphy works of celebrities. Using celebrities' works as signboards can also increase the popularity of the store, and using traditional Chinese characters improves the overall aesthetics. It will be better.

3. People’s cultural quality has generally improved, and there are currently fewer typos on signboards.

Suggestion

Use irregular characters as signboards in stores to attract customers. But this not only misleads children, but also erects a barrier for people who do not know traditional Chinese characters. To this end, I suggest:

First, legislate from the government level to prohibit the use of non-standard Chinese characters as signboards. At the same time, we will strengthen the supervision of non-standard writing in administrative approval processes such as industrial and commercial registration, tax registration, and environmental assessment.

2. Strengthen the cultural quality training of individual business practitioners and improve their awareness of using standardized words.
