As early as 1981, representatives of the Chinese government and representatives of the United Nations Volunteers signed a contract in Beijing and decided to send United Nations Volunteers to each other. The China International Economic and Technical Exchange Center of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation is the official cooperation agency of the United Nations Development Program in developing its business in China, and is also the executive agency of the UNV project.
