A truce in the war over the football match.

On July 18th, 1969 (the fifth day of the sixth lunar month), the war broke out because of the football match.

Why the war broke out:

El Salvador and Honduras are two neighboring Central American countries. In June, 1969, in order to March into the 9th World Cup in Mexico, both countries wanted to make a big splash in the three-game and two-win competition, but they did not expect to cause a war. On June 8, 1969, Honduras won 1- at home, and Honduras celebrated, while El Salvador returned home in disgrace.

On June 15th, 1969, El Salvador beat Honduras 3- at home, and also returned the insult to Honduras. Fans of the two countries accused each other and even the news media kept cursing, and finally the heads of the two countries began to be indignant. Under the mediation of relevant parties, the two sides held the third match in Mexico City, and El Salvador narrowly beat Honduras by 3-2 and got the "admission ticket" for the World Cup.

however, a war broke out between the two countries at last. On July 14th, 1969, El Salvador launched a surprise attack, which started the "football war". On July 18th, 1969, under the mediation of the international community, El Salvador agreed to sign a ceasefire agreement. Although this dramatic war lasted only 1 hours, the death toll on both sides still reached 3, and the economic loss exceeded 5 million dollars.
