What these people often can't figure out is that you are qualified to apply for promotion, or your boss is willing to support your promotion. This in itself means that your output and performance are ok, but this is only related to performance, and promotion focuses on your ability level. Therefore, promotion requires you to clearly explain why you have reached a higher level in a limited time, and your output is only to illustrate the specific case support of your meeting the requirements.

Know what it is, but don't know why: many people's PPT structure has two parts. The first part: What am I responsible for and what is the goal my boss gave me; The second part: What did I do? It worked well. This structure is very easy for judges to seize loopholes. As long as the judges ask, how is your goal broken down into these means? Do you think these means are the most important ways? 80% people are trapped here. The problem exposed in essence is that there is no detailed introduction to how to decompose the goal into means, or I have never thought of it at all. Usually, this is a process of accepting the boss's task and carrying it out without making decisions and judgments. And your thinking and judgment are what the judges want to hear most in the promotion defense.

How to write promotional materials well

Share the structure of commonly used promotional materials summarized by myself, but this structure is only a representation of presentation. The core is to comb through this structure, so that you can sort out your own ideas in the process of preparing materials and only represent your personal views.

Personal introduction: briefly introduce your main work experience and output since your last promotion, and highlight key achievements. If you have won awards or directed other students' works, you can also show them here. Through excellent performance, I caught the eye of the judges from the beginning and gave them a preliminary impression. I feel that this person's output is good and I am willing to continue listening.

The position and value of the responsible direction in the business: this part can simply draw the overall architecture diagram of the business and explain which module you are responsible for in this business. Because many judges are not necessarily familiar with the work you are responsible for, through this part, on the one hand, you can show that you have a clear understanding of the overall value of the work you are responsible for; On the other hand, let the judges know clearly what you will talk about later. Of course, this part can also be integrated with the previous part.

Business Status and Objectives: Step 1: Analyze in detail the business status you are responsible for, including but not limited to its market position, development trend, difficulties and challenges, etc. Based on these analyses, abstract out what problems you want to solve. Step 2: Based on this question, make clear what your core path or style of play is. For example, it is divided into several stages, and what are the core objectives, paths and measurement indicators of each stage.

Detailed business description: Based on the core path disassembled above, it can be divided into several parts to describe the business in detail, and the logic of each part is basically the same.

First, to solve this problem, what are the current situation and difficulties you face? It is worth noting that "difficulty" is the finishing touch, which is the key to help the judges abstract and understand the difficulty of the content you are responsible for and whether it matches the application level. You'd better point it out here instead of letting the judge abstract it according to his own understanding.

Second, based on this difficulty, what is your solution? What is needed here is to abstract and summarize the work done and describe the core ideas, instead of listing one, two or three;

Third, what did you do under this core idea? Usually divided into 2-3 core tasks, corresponding to specific projects and outputs. I won't talk about how I did this project in detail in this part unless it is to emphasize the lower level implementation, usually the higher level, but I can explain what I did.

Finally, it is aimed at this part of output. It should be noted that many people will write the overall output in each section, resulting in repeated performance. The output mentioned here refers to the data changes you bring after completing the problems to be solved in this part through the above paths.

5. Personal ability summary: Usually, there will be some specific ability requirements in the promotion requirements, which is also the corresponding part of the scoring table in the hands of the judges. Therefore, in this part, we must take the initiative to abstract some of our own abilities that meet the requirements of this level, and it is best to have examples at work. Don't talk in vain. If it can be recognized by the judges, it will naturally affect his score.

Other tips

Many people think that promotion is mysterious, and they will be nervous when they see the judges. Then let's stand from the perspective of the judges and feel their state at that time:

Many Internet companies' promotion defenses are organized by large departments, so it is very likely that the judges don't know the candidates, even the business they are responsible for. Usually, the promotion defense will be arranged within a few days, and the judges will attend all the defenses within a whole day. Even when some judges ask questions, they may just need to ask questions, but they are not really questioning and provoking you.

Therefore, for everyone who participates in the defense, first of all, they should be confident, believe that only they know best, and tell the questions and doubts of the judges in detail according to their own ideas. Even if you haven't thought about them, you can speak frankly and talk about your understanding. The judges don't need you to think everything clearly. The second mentality should be peaceful. Some people feel that they are questioning themselves when they hear the judges' questions. In fact, this is far from necessary. After the judges and you leave this conference room, they may never know and see you again, and there is no need to take it personally. Therefore, only peace of mind can make a good play.
