Geographic information system abbreviation

Geographic information system (GIS) is a kind of spatial information system developed rapidly in 1960s. GIS technology is a technical system that collects, manages, calculates, analyzes, simulates and expresses all or part of the data related to geographical spatial distribution on the earth's surface (including the atmosphere), with the support of computer software and hardware, adopting the method of geographical model analysis and applying the theories of system engineering and information science, so as to provide various spatial geographical information for geographical research and geographical decision-making services.

1. Collecting, managing, analyzing and outputting all kinds of geospatial information is spatial and dynamic;

2. For the purpose of geographical research and decision-making, with geographical model method as the means, it has the ability of regional spatial analysis, multi-factor comprehensive analysis and dynamic prediction, and produces high-level geographical information;

3. The computer system supports spatial geographic data management, simulates conventional or specialized geographic analysis methods, acts on spatial data, generates useful information, and completes tasks that are difficult for human beings to complete.
