How to maintain skis

Snowboards are waxed to protect them. The importance of waxing skis lies in that it can form a thin water layer between the bottom of skis and the snow surface, so as to protect skis, reduce the risk of damage to skis, prolong their life and make skis easier to control. Ski waxing should be done on clean and dry skis. After waxing, wax with an electric iron. Be careful that the temperature of the electric iron is not too high. You need to take good care of your skis every day. Here's how to maintain your snowboard. Let's have a look! First, the importance of waxing veneer

Snowboard wax is a kind of wax that can adapt to specific environmental temperature. When the snowboard slides, the bottom of the snowboard constantly rubs against the snow, and the heat generated by the friction will melt a small amount of snow, forming a thin water layer between the bottom of the snowboard and the snow surface. If there is no wax layer at the bottom of the snowboard, the melted snow water will penetrate into the bottom of the snowboard and cause damage to the snowboard.

Waxing the snowboard is the most important link in snowboard maintenance. Waxing the snowboard allows you to enjoy high-speed skiing and turning at will. At the same time, it will also reduce the risk of damage to the board surface and prolong the service life. Waxing can make the snowboard easier to control, enhance the speed of the board sliding on the snow, and make it easier for you to turn. In this way, your skiing endurance will last longer. Moreover, waxing can prolong the service life of skis and protect the bottom of skis to some extent. New skis are usually waxed, but after one or two slides, the factory wax is gone.

At the end of the snow season, it is necessary to seal the wax, loosen the shoe clips on the fixer, and make the taut spring in a "rest" state. Snowboard should be stored in a dry place to prevent the metal materials at the edge of the snowboard from rusting. Don't store skis in damp basements or storerooms, which may get wet by rain. Snowboards stored in wet places for a long time may be corroded, deteriorated and deformed due to moisture absorption. Many boards that slip are caused by the corrosion of wood cores by water. Sealing wax at the bottom of the board can not only prevent moisture from entering the board, but also make wax gradually penetrate into the board after long-term storage, thus making the wax on the snow board less likely to fall off when skiing next year.

Second, how to wax skis

1. Make sure your skis are clean and dry before waxing, so that the skis can absorb wax easily.

2. Spread the wax slowly and evenly on the snowboard, and adjust the electric iron to a temperature that can melt the wax without smoking.

3. Unless the skiing place is extremely cold, you can generally use any ordinary wax. It is suggested to buy an electric iron specially used for waxing, or find one without holes. Because you can't iron clothes with the same electric iron unless the wax on the iron is thoroughly washed.

Be careful not to leave the iron in one place for too long, because it may melt all the skis. After painting evenly, let the skis cool to room temperature before continuing. This process will take at least half an hour.

5. Scrape off the wax with a hard plastic ruler. Avoid scraping wax with iron ruler, as it may hurt the skis. When scraping wax, scrape along the head/tail direction of the board.

6. Finally, polish the bottom of the board with a hard plastic brush or scouring pad. Please continue grinding along the direction of the head/tail of the board.

Third, how to maintain the snowboard

1, every time you come back from skiing, you must take the snowboard out of the board bag, wipe off the snow water on the snowboard with soft cotton cloth or absorbent paper and dry it.

2. After drying, see if there is any damage. If the board surface is damaged, you can put the snowboard flat to remove the redundant substances on the board surface, ignite the prepared rubber strip, hold it horizontally, drop the melted rubber strip on the scar of the snowboard and cool it.

3. After cooling, scrape off the excess adhesive tape with a steel scraper. In case of extensive damage, it should be repaired by professionals.

4. After you come back from skiing, you should also repair the steel edge of the snowboard. First, rough grind the damaged vertical and horizontal edges with a diamond file, and then grind the steel edges along the direction of the board with a snowboard corner cutter (the angle can be adjusted, and the ideal angle is 90 degrees). Finally, use a diamond file to file off the traces left on the steel edge during polishing.

5. Pay attention to waxing the skis. At home, you can apply liquid or paste wax directly on the snowboard, or rub block wax directly on the board. Liquid or pasty wax needs to be dried for 1-2 minutes, and then polished with the board surface, so that the wax can better adhere to the board surface. Or get a professional to wax the skis.
