Historical materials of Yiwu Library

The earliest public library in Yiwu was the county popular library in the early years of the Republic of China. In 1927, it was merged into the Library Department of the People's Education Center. After liberation, the library was located in the cultural center, and in 1984 the library was established independently. In May 1992, the Yiwu Library Building No. 302, Nanmen Street, was completed and opened with a construction area of ??1,600 square meters. In 2006, the new library at No. 35 Zongze East Road, located near the Meihu Convention and Exhibition Center, broke ground. It is the first large-scale cultural infrastructure project of the "Yiwu International Cultural Center" with a construction area of ??21,000 square meters and a designed collection of 100 books. Thousands of volumes. On November 20, 2007, the main body of the new library was completed; internal and external decoration began in 2008; on April 21, 2011, a simple and grand opening ceremony of the new library of Yiwu City was held; on June 1, 2011 Officially fully open to readers.
