Xiangyu Railway starts from Xiangyang and passes through Mojiaying, Gucheng, Shiyan, Baihe, Xunyang, Ankang, Ziyang, Wanyuan and Daxian, with a total length of 9 15.6 km. The railway runs through Hubei, Shaanxi and Sichuan provinces, connecting Handan and Jiaozhi in the east, Yang 'an and baoji-chengdu railway in the middle, and Chengdu-Chongqing and Sichuan-Guizhou in the west. It is a traffic artery connecting the Central Plains and Southwest China, which is of great significance to economic development and national defense construction.

The Railway Corps deployed 8 divisions, 6 divisions and 2 independent regiments to build the Hunan-Chongqing Railway, with 236,000 troops. The eight divisions are Railway Corps 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, 10,1,13. The six divisions are 1 1, 20, 2 1, 23, 60 and 70 regiments respectively; These two independent groups are the automobile group and the mechanical group.

Xiang-Yu Railway was built from Chongqing in western Sichuan. Originally, the central plan was to mobilize the railway soldiers who built the Chengdu-Kunming line to build the Xiangyang-Chongqing line, but the Chengdu-Kunming line was not built at that time and the participating troops could not be withdrawn. In order to start the construction of Xiangpu Railway as soon as possible, the central government decided to postpone the construction of Dacheng Railway (the railway from Daxian to Chengdu is part of Xiangpu Railway) and repair the Chongqing Railway (the railway from Chongqing to the county seat, which later became part of Xiangpu Railway). 1In February, 968, the Central Military Commission ordered the 6th Division of the Railway Corps stationed in Northeast China to quickly enter Sichuan to build the Chongqing-Dalian Railway. In April, the Sixth Division of Railway Corps was stationed in the construction site of Chongqing-Yuda Railway. In June, a few detachments of the Seventh Division of the Railway Corps removed from chengdu-kunming railway entered the Chongqing-Dalian railway site.

1969 in order to support the construction of "Second Automobile", the central government decided to start construction of the eastern section of Xiangcheng Railway as soon as possible. In March, the Railway Corps 1 Division was evacuated to chengdu-kunming railway and started construction in Hubei. In the second half of the year, the Central Military Commission transferred the Railway Corps 13 Division returned from Vietnam to Hubei for construction. At the end of the year, the Eighth Division of the Railway Corps was transferred from Chengdu-Kunming Line to Wanyuan, Sichuan. At the end of that year, the central government decided to build Xiangyang-Chongqing Railway, named Xiang-Chongqing Railway, with external code 2 107 project. Xiangyang-Chongqing Railway consists of Xiangyang-Daxian section of Xiangcheng Railway and Chongqing-Dalian Railway.

1970, the middle section of Xiang-Yu Railway started. In the first quarter, the Central Military Commission mobilized the Railway Corps 10 Division, which was merged from chengdu-kunming railway, to enter Xunyang in southern Shaanxi, and transferred the Railway Corps 1 1 Division stationed in Fujian to Ankang in southern Shaanxi. In the second quarter, the Second Division of the Railway Corps returned from Vietnam moved to Ziyang, southern Shaanxi. So far, all eight railway branches in the construction site of Xiangpu Railway have been mobilized and deployed.
