Why is there a road in Shanghai called Nanjing Road? Is there any story in this?

Nanjing Road in Shanghai is the earliest commercial street established after the opening of Shanghai. East from the Bund, west to Yan 'an West Road, across Jing 'an and Huangpu, with a total length of 5.5 kilometers.
