About the Social Work Major

This is also a manifestation of the low popularity of the social work major.

Social work is roughly divided into medical social work, geriatric social work, youth social work, community social work, etc. Due to the influence of the characteristics of the social work profession, it covers a wide range of occupations. During this epidemic, medical social work and community social work played an important role. Medical social work aims to alleviate conflicts in the doctor-patient relationship and provide professional rescue services directly to patients undergoing treatment. Promote patient care services and quality of life, maintain the mental health and family relationships of medical staff, and play a positive role in enhancing doctor-patient relationships and medical effects. In addition to the basic epidemic prevention work of joint prevention and control, community social work continues to arrange services to normalize community order and normalize the lives of community residents. Medical social workers and community social workers have made unremitting efforts during this epidemic. It is worthy of recognition that social work has been included in the queue of professional services in the national strategic deployment of popular protests. This shows that social work’s active participation and professional contribution in the early protest work has been recognized by the government. It also shows that social work has a broader space for action and more arduous professional tasks in today’s and future development.
