(1) Improper use of words

① Improper collocation of subject and predicate. His lofty revolutionary qualities often appear in my mind.

③ Improper collocation of subject and object. This last day's work is the most stressful, enjoyable and meaningful day for students.

③ Incomplete composition

Second, the method (principle) of modifying sick sentences

1. Check the sentence and find out the reason. Read the original sentence first and see what's wrong. Grammar, rhetoric and logic have different requirements for review. Finding out the reason is the premise of modifying the sick sentence.

2. Take the initiative first and then prescribe the right medicine. If it is a sick sentence caused by grammatical errors, when modifying it, we should first find out the trunk (subject, predicate and object) of the sentence to see if it is incomplete, properly collocated and chaotic, and correct the mistakes found; Then check the additional components (stereotypes, forms and complements) and correct the misused words, reversed word order or additional components that are not properly matched with the head language.

3. On the basis of not changing the original meaning of the sentence, modify the sick sentence by adding (adding words), deleting (deleting redundant words and phrases), adjusting (adjusting word order) and changing (replacing other words). You can't make new sentences.

Third, how to quickly and effectively identify and modify sick sentences.

(1) Pay attention to the collocation of related words.

Example 1: Imagination is not a necessary condition for poets to create, but also for readers to appreciate.

Analysis: Example 1 is a compound sentence with progressive relationship. If "not only ... but also ..." is applied and "not" should match "but", the example will be wrong.

Example 2 "No matter" is an unconditional related word, which can't be followed by a coordinate phrase, but only a choice phrase. In the example, "and" should be "or".

(2) Pay attention to the sentences with the words "prohibition" and "prevention".

: Exodus Students should never make things up in writing. (Zhanjiang, Guangdong, 2006)

Analysis: "doing nothing" already means "don't", so "don't" should be deleted.

Another example: 1. Three taboos for sleeping: one is not angry before going to bed, the other is not full before going to bed, and the third is lying in the wind.

Some parents don't realize that this is a disease, but stop their children from surfing the internet in a simple and rude way.

In order to prevent similar vicious accidents from happening again, we must strengthen management and take strict preventive measures.

(3) Pay attention when there are multiple negative words in the sentence.

With the development of science today, no one will deny that the earth does not revolve around the sun.

Analysis: "No one will deny …" Double negation expresses positive meaning, followed by negative word "no …", and finally expresses negative meaning. (Triple negation means negation. ) The word "no" should be removed.

For another example, no one can deny that the economic development in recent years is not the result of reform and opening up.

(4) Pay attention to prepositions in sentences.

Exodus: I have gained a lot through this trip. (Wuhu City, Anhui Province, 2006)

Analysis: The prepositions "Guo ..." and "Shi ..." and the following phrases form an object-object phrase, which makes the original subject into a form.

Language, the whole sentence has no subject. One of the prepositions should be removed. There are many similar sentences, such as: through this talent contest, we have increased our talents and cultivated our sentiments. Yangzhou (2006) Through the joint efforts of all citizens, Ningbo was rated as "National Civilized City". (Ningbo City, 2006)

(5) Pay attention to the collocation and word order of coordinate phrases.

The whole school discussed and listened to President Wang's report on education reform. (Shanxi Province, 2006)

The students watched and listened to the heroic hero's report with reverence.

Analysis: It is illogical to "discuss" and then "listen" in the sentence 1, which belongs to improper word order. It should be changed to "listen and discuss". In the coordinate phrase "watch and listen", "listen" can be collocated with "report", but "watch" and "listen" can't be collocated, and the sentences are improperly collocated. Delete "Gaze at and".

(6) Pay attention to the sentences about the increase or decrease of quantity.

Analysis: Example 1 When using words such as "decrease", "decrease" and "decrease", you can't use multiples, but should express them as fractions or percentages. Example 2 "about" and "about" both indicate uncertainty and appear repeatedly, so one of them should be deleted.

(7) Pay attention to the collocation of sentences with words such as "can" and "whether".

Exodus 1: whether a person can make progress in his studies has an important relationship with whether he can study hard. (Jingmen City, Hubei Province, 2006)

Effective measures taken by people's governments at all levels are related to whether the protection of minors can be carried out smoothly. (Beijing 2006)

Analysis: Example 1 "Can you make progress in your study" means double mention, but it is followed by a single commitment, which is inconsistent and leads to language barriers. You can add "whether" after "good at". In Example 2, "taking effective measures" is a single mention, and "whether it can be carried out smoothly" is a double mention, which is inconsistent. The word "whether" should be added before the word "take".

(8) Pay attention to the emotional color of words in sentences.

: Exodus His earnest and diligent study spirit is worth learning from each of our classmates.

Analysis: "effective" means "not learning well", which is derogatory. It's not appropriate to use it here. It should be changed to "study".

Ability improvement:

Another example: 1. The school warmly praised Liu Ming's courageous behavior.

Our army saw through the clever plan of the enemy, arrived at Luding Bridge ahead of time and wiped them out on the other side of the river.

Read the sick sentences in the handout carefully and modify them with modification symbols such as addition, deletion, adjustment and replacement.
